to dislike DP's greed?

Whenever we go out for a meal DP eats so much and just piles it in. We've been to a harvester and he had 4 bowls of salad which included loads of creamy sauce, pasta, rolls and butter and dried fruit and so not exactly healthy, a massive portion of chicken with jacket potato and veg plus an ice cream. Plus beer!

But it's not just the amount but the way he shovels it in and pesters the waiter and gives then disapproving looks if they take too long.

I hate it - aibu?

Bon appetit!

AwfulMaureen · 29/03/2014 19:29

Moondog thanks for the link.....I actually fancy the Swedish Sandwich Cake Blush I love savoury food and the idea of being able to cut a wedge of butty is just marvelous!

moondog · 29/03/2014 19:32

gLAD TO BE OF USE Maureen.
I ENJOYED READING ABOUT THE FISH PASTE SLATHERD SANDWICH WHICH HAD NOT BEEN ADDED (oops) the last time I looked at that thread.
I admire your bravery in contemplating eating it.

AwfulMaureen · 29/03/2014 19:33

I can't see what's not to like! Cake shaped bread, salmon, cream cheese....salad...all in a BIG FAT WEDGE! So convenient! Grin

expatinscotland · 29/03/2014 19:34

Yuk.

AwfulMaureen · 29/03/2014 19:36

Honestly...what's yuk about it? I genuinely can/t see it!

Those Scandi folk are partial to some very nasty pink fish pastes in tubes aren't they?

AwfulMaureen · 29/03/2014 19:45

Kate I must admit....the "frosting" does not appeal.....I could make it in a rustic style though....bare on the outside...

It sounds like something Hyacinth Bouquet would serve when you put it like that Kate "I've made a beautiful rustic Smorgastarta for our candlelit supper dear."

puntasticusername · 29/03/2014 20:31

That does sound like a LOT of food op, but...is he someone (like me) who just really likes to get good value from a buffet? If I knew I was going to a Harvester, I'd not eat all day and then I'd easily manage four of those little bowls of salad and a main course. Admittedly, I'd stick with the healthy things - probably not bother with the pasta at all, and go easy on the sauces and bread rolls.

Then I'd be "too full to order pudding", but drive DH to a gibbering rage by nicking half of his because it looked really nice when it came out.

Does he chew with his mouth open in public?

I was pretty gobsmacked when I last went to a Harvester. Seems like manners fly out the window around the salad bar. Grown chubsters men barging their way into non existent spaces and grabbing ladles and shovelling it into bowls. Yep - and it was the blokes.

springconcert · 29/03/2014 22:24

Thanks for answers.

He isn't overweight but he is odd about food - restricts his diet not beer though for days at a time then eats loads. It isn't bad table manners or anything just the sheer amount and the fact you can't talk when eating (unless it is about the food Hmm) - it just bothers me.

I really couldn't live with that, disgusting, I never ever finish everything on my plate though, and never have more than one course....

springconcert · 29/03/2014 22:31

Honestly - couldn't live with it? It's annoying but you'd honestly end a marriage because of over-eating?

I'm not having a go! Just intrigued!
