www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/the-rt-hon-theresa-may-mp-home-secretary-fightforyashika-stop-this-sixth-form-student-being-deported-alone-she-deserves-a-future

Yashika Bageerathi, an A-level student of 18 or 19, fled Mauritius with her family due to life threatening domestic violence, seeking asylum in the UK. She is very well thought of by both staff and students at the school and was just about to finish her A-levels. She has been taken alone to a detention centre and will be sent back to Mauritius, alone, tomorrow. Apparently she has nobody in Mauritius. Theresa May apparently feels it would be 'inappropriate' for her to 'interfere' in this.

British Airways refused to take part in this, good for them. So now the government are sending her back via Air Mauritius. Change.org are now asking people to email the Chief Executive of Air Mauritius, Andre Viljoen at [email protected] asking him urgently to do the same. Worth a try don't you think?

Personally I find the actions of the government sickening and inhumane. This poor girl (and her family). Sounds like she would have been an asset to the UK.

You're wholly incorrect, you've been unhappy to be challenged, expecting a sympathetic response
As you said you no nothing of the case. other than emotional and inaccurate reporting
It's clear you're not minded to discuss,or acknowledge process.you hoped for a critical mass of support, and are annoyed it's not forthcoming

NadiaWadia · 29/03/2014 15:55

Not meaning Nennypops obviously.

Well it's nice to see so many people here are happy about a school girl being deported back to a dangerous situation. And no doubt you have stopped some people signing the petition etc. So if that pleases you, great, there is nothing more to say.

OP posts:
moondog · 29/03/2014 15:56

Typically sentimental nonsense regarding folk who shouldn't be here.

scottishmummy · 29/03/2014 15:56

Not vipers, but posters knowledgable of process and able to challenge your flawed posts

Chippednailvarnish · 29/03/2014 15:56

Yawn.

Still here OP?

RustyParker · 29/03/2014 15:56

Eh? "So fuck off"

You post on MN asking posters to sign a petition.

Some posters do.

Some posters don't want to and state their reasons for not doing so.

You don't agree with those reasons so throw your dummy out the pram, accuse posters of making person attacks then tell them to "fuck off"

I think you are being very rude and a bit hysterical tbh.

EdithWeston · 29/03/2014 15:57

Nadia: you're not a newbie. Why did to choose AIBU if you did not want people to spell out the reasons why they disagree?

No-one is being rude, nasty or aggressive. They simply don't agree with you.

candycoatedwaterdrops · 29/03/2014 15:58

You posted in AIBU, we think you are unreasonable. Sorry that offends you so much.

NadiaWadia · 29/03/2014 15:58

You are wrong about that.

scottishmummy · 29/03/2014 15:59

Look,as you said you no nothing of case,it's tugged your heart strings.end of

BMW6 · 29/03/2014 16:00

No. She was here illegally and this is not the first country she could have got to in which she could have claimed asylum.

And as for letting her finish her A levels - she can do them back in her own country.

Nomama · 29/03/2014 16:02

No one has said that they are happy. Just that there are no grounds for asylum and so Theresa May was not doing anything to lose sleep over.

And you could say you erred in accusing me of insulting you......

RustyParker · 29/03/2014 16:02

If YP's mother was so afraid for the family's safety, why did she leave her children in Mauritius for TWO years while she came to the UK?

Her story is very sad but I reserve my support for genuine asylum seekers who are at risk of death or torture and have no choice but to flee their Country.

NadiaWadia · 29/03/2014 16:04

This is not a thread about 'AIBU to tell my neighbour to shut up' or some personal stuff. This is a thread trying to help someone started in for altruistic reasons.

I do not appreciate all the abuse. OK, it was probably a big mistake to tell someone to 'fuck off', (I just got riled) that was a gift to you all wasn't it? Apart from that I have not done anything wrong. I think a lot of posters have been pretty vile really, about an important human rights issue. I find that shocking. That's all.

The family can't be exactly short of money if they afforded the air fare to come here. What about people with absolutely nothing, not even clean water. They are the ones who should get our sympathy.

HowContraryMary · 29/03/2014 16:04

Actually, going back to the emotive thread title To wonder how Theresa May can sleep at night - young girl being deported on Mother's Day I rather think I can hear the worlds smallest violin playing. [very very sad face]

Floralnomad · 29/03/2014 16:06

You asked a question ,the question got answered and I don't see any abuse from anyone except yourself OP .

Chippednailvarnish · 29/03/2014 16:06

Looking on the bright side, at least the OP isn't in charge of the UK's asylum policy.

After all God forbid we reserve our help for people who would be killed otherwise...

SirChenjin · 29/03/2014 16:08

People always trot out that old chestnut in debates about asylum

Here's the thing. Don't get on a plane that takes you past safe countries.

scottishmummy · 29/03/2014 16:09

Nadia, you're somewhat stuck handwringing, and can't accept there are grounds to deport
It's not altruistic to ask mn support yashika,it's unrealistic and ill informed
However, you're determined to portray yourself as maligned and claim you've been attacked

Kudzugirl · 29/03/2014 16:10

I signed first thing and have also emailed the CEO of Air Mauritius. BA have refused to fly her so we hope that AM will also do so.

This isn't a human rights issue OP.

Nomama · 29/03/2014 16:12

Maybe the rest of us should email them too, asking them to expedite her flight?

THAT would be spiteful.

scottishmummy · 29/03/2014 16:15

This isn't an important human right issue, there's clear case law and guidance
