AIBU to think that Gwyneth and Chris are so contrived? Have you seen the website they announced their conscious uncoupling on? They posted a photo of them happily sitting in a field.... It's so cringe worthy

I know it's gossip fodder for the masses but bloody hell, there are several other threads on this... women are generally quite horrible.

I heard on the radio that they also describe it as "extending their family" rather than a divorce, because they are still so close. I like the theory but can't see it working in practice. It is otherwise terribly sad. But Gwyneth is just SO.....perfect?!? Would you expect anything else from her - that Goop website is just ramblings and aspirational guff by someone completely removed from reality.

You rather get the feeling Chris Martin probably read that statement at the same time as the rest of us.

I know they're not going to give us the low-down in a PR statement (indeed, why should they?) but can't they just say "We're getting divorced. Ends."? Do they have to do this we're so in love, best friends, wonderful children (why would we doubt they love their children ), co-parents forever, life's beautiful crap. Clearly if you're such great mates and closer than ever you wouldn't be getting divorced.

What riles me is that the 'note from GP', as it appeared on her blog, was accompanied by a self-serving interview with a psychologist who basically said it's unnatural to stay in a long-term monogamous relationship. The theory put forward the idea that because we're living three times as long as our pre-historic selves it's unrealistic to stay with the same person for all that time. And that it was more likely that an adult would have up to three long-term partners in their life.
I've never heard such guff, put forward to justify her own agenda.

I feel sorry for Apple. Her parents are divorcing and everyone around her finds it hilarious.

I think there is a lot of hatred for GP.
Their kids will be able to google them and find everything about their separation and divorce.....why not try and deal with it calmly, politely boringly if you like if only for your children?

I find it odd that, regardless of statements made etc, anyone finds it appropriate to take the piss out of a couple getting divorced. Ffs look at the relationships board - it's not easy for anyone regardless of what the marriage has been like.
