to think people shouldn't leave their stuff in swimming pool changing cubicles

Ok so it makes my blood boil... you're in the swimming pool changing room, your DCs have just come out the pool and the fun bit of trying to get them dry and re-clothed begins. There are changing cubicles but the only ones with no-one in them have clothes hanging up on the hooks and shoes on the floor. I think OK - that cubicle is free, we'll go in there.

Then, about two minutes in, there's a knock on the door and the person who's left all her kids stuff in there wants to come in! I mean WTF. The first time it happened I said 'I'm sorry you'll have to wait' and we got changed as fast as we could and got out. The second time, last week,a woman just barged in with her child and started drying her kid off next to us and getting his clothes on. I was speechless. I wanted to say 'Get out, we're in here!' but I am such a fucking wuss. I wish I had.

What is it with these people? There are hundreds of lockers but they still seem to think that they've rented the cubicle for the day. Grrrrrr.

Weird that people think they own a cubicle. I always take a carrier with towels/shower stuff and leave it poolside. Then after your swim, you shower, get stuff out of locker and find a cubicle. It's not exactly hard.

No one attempt to bagsy a cubicle at my local pool, probably because it's highly likely their stuff will get nicked.

Well MrsWedge, I'm going to do what you do. And I do live in London, wouldn't you know!

At the moment, if I get kids changed surrounded by other people's stuff I do it as quick as I can so as to cause minimum inconvenience to the selfish tossers - what am I like? I am now going to go at my own sweet pace. And if someone knocks I'll shout 'Sorry, this one's taken!' very loudly and not open the door. Still raging.

And hide their pants inside the toe of their shoes..... They will be fully dressed without pants by the time they put their shoes on, might make them think twice!!
(But maybe take some gloves for the pants Handelling!)

This happened to MIL when she took DD and DN swimming- busy afternoon, all the cubicles either being used or full of other people's crap. So MIL used on of the ones with stuff in it with DD and DN and locked the door. A couple of minutes later, the family knocked loudly on the door and demanded she let them in as she had 'stolen' their changing room, they always use this one etc. MIL shouted back that until it had their name on the door it was a free-for-all like all the other cubicles, and was accused of stealing their clothes. MIL threw their clothes over the top of the door and wished them luck finding a free changing room Grin This was a couple of years ago now and she's still rather proud of it.

Why would people leave their stuff unattended? Aren't they concerned about the phantom knicker sniffers?

Just fold the clothes and put them neatly on the floor with the kids stuff on the top. After all, you have to sit down on the bench to dry feet/put socks on etc...

thedrunkenduck · 26/03/2014 17:12

I don't have a problem with prams/carseats- baby has to sit somewhere while Mum gets changed don't they? But i'd be pretty annoyed if people just left clothes littered around the place. I don't use a baths with proper cubicles- just an open changing room with a single privacy cubicle.

Surely people lock bags and things in lockers so how difficult is it to shove your clothes in there too??? I'm assuming so anyway- can't see many people wanting to risk having their money/phones etc stolen??

PrincessScrumpy · 26/03/2014 17:54

Even leaving stuff in the room while you go and shower annoys me. You cannot reserve a locker room. I get the shampoo etc, have a shower then go and find a locker. I do this with 2 toddlers in tow so if I can do it I'm sure others can! Just selfish.
