I quite fancy trailing velvet robes and a hair mesh encrusted with seed pearls and twinkly diamonds?

And have little velvet slippers with gold thread on them.

I could sit in a bower and dream of courtly love.

Oh, thank you! It's been a difficult day - didn't mean that to spill over into other things! It is indeed great to imagine - I suppose that's why historical novels/films/TV dramas are so popular.

And it's also very true that no matter how practical today's polyester is, it just cannot match up to the feeling of old-style silk and lace and linen. And many old styles - low neck, defined waist, long wide skirts - are flattering for women of all shapes and sizes. Much more forgiving than many modern styles.
