Please help. Cat brought in huge frog / toad. Last seen by the front door 30 mins ago. DD and I locked ourselves in the kitchen until DH came home. He can't find it anywhere.

So where so scared toads go?
Can the climb stairs?
Where has the cat put it?
How can we flush it out?

Otherwise I'm going to have to check into a hotel.

Female frogs are pretty huge this time of year and uk common toads are pretty small so I'm thinking its a frog. Is it smooth?

Fear doesnot have much logic or reason to it for all the non supportive posters.

Anyway back to the the toad ( far to big to be a frog). I followed the water advice and found it making it's way to the garden in our dining room. I screamed, ran out of the room broom in hand and called for DH.

DH is on permanent instructions to save wildlife where possible so got it onto a piece of cardboard and took it out into the garden. He trespassed over two gardens and put it next to a pond.

I am having medicinal gin.

we have found a number of dessicated frogs in our house, the ones that got away. Better than worms, though, one of our cats went through a phase of bringing them in and shredding them Shock.

The noise frogs make when they are being harassed by a cat is hideous, we have often been woken by squealing frogs.

Sorry, that's all really unhelpful.

My friend had her bedroom french doors open one summer night because where she lives is safe and it was unbearably hot.

About 3am she heard loud rustling which sounded like a man going through the house on and off. She lay there, terrified until it got light enough at about 5am and then she got brave enough to get up armed with the cricket bat she kept by the bed.

It was an a confused frog that was trying to get out.

Op I'm really sorry that you're so scared and upset by this toad, I do understand that it's obviously a real fear for you but jesus! It's a small amphibious creature not a fucking dragon!!!

Sorry op. Grin

Sorry OP - my saying phobias were irrational was meant to be sympathetic - we're all scared of something that might not be logical to someone else, but that's why they're phobias - you can't explain it but it really is a horrible feeling when you have to face them.
Glad he's no longer in the house.

We puppy walked a guide dog once and he used to jump on frogs, and they let out the most horrendous scream! Awful noise :-/
My cat bought ds an earthworm the oher night :)

frogs will play dead for hours

my cat bought one in and it stayed in the kitchen overnight I doubt it moved I did not see it until the morning and thought it was dead only noticed it as the cat was poking it when I gave it a good shove did it move. it was fine I managed to put it in a shoe box and let it go a few weeks later he came home with its cousin

better than the fucking awful rat he bought in, since then his catflap has been locked
