Would a message to someone's "Other Folder" in Facebook be obvious to the receiver?

My ex injured himself quite badly over the weekend - all I got was a quick message to say he was in hospital and then no signal on his phone for about 8 hours.

Even though he is my ex, I still care for him (obviously I wouldn't want him to be seriously ill or worse) and was very worried when I couldn't get in contact with him (we also have a 2 yo DD together). In the message I got from him he said that he had been with his friend when the accident happened. I didn't have this friend's number anymore (it was on my old phone) so I joined Facebook specifically to send him a message. Because we aren't "friends" on there my message went to his "Other Inbox".

I was basically explaining that I was really concerned about ex and whether he had any news. This was a few days ago now and he did not respond to my message. I have subsequently had contact with my ex and he has been discharged and should be fine. But I AIBU to be slightly annoyed that this friend has not got back to me? Or is there a chance that he has not seen my message. I just feel like he has ignored me.

It is possible to view these messages even if you're on a mobile.

On the back of reading this thread, I have just located my "other" folder after seven years on FB. Shock. I had 27 messages going back years, mostly spam but one including the 2 year old funeral details of an old family friend (it's ok, I found out the funeral details at the time by other means).

I never knew such a thing existed.

If you're on a mobile you need to go to the full site on the internet.
