To think we'll never know what happened to MH370?

losercruiser · 18/03/2014 23:38

I think this will remain one of those great unsolved mysteries like

  • Who shot JFK?
  • What happened to Madeleine McCann?
  • The Black Delilah.
  • Who was Jack the Ripper?
  • Did the moon landing really happen?

Aibu to think some things will always remain a mystery, and this will be one of them?

Yes, I think all the funding goes to the ISS now.

Titsalinabumsquash · 19/03/2014 12:41

Of course we'll know, it's a big aeroplane, it can't vanish into nothingness.

My 9yr son thinks Putin is a vampire if anyone wants to add that to the list of things we'll never know. Grin

OOAOML · 19/03/2014 12:43

Was Shergar not taken by the IRA and then shot after they failed to ransom him?

Northernlurker · 19/03/2014 12:48

Yes I think somebody admitted something about Shergar eventually. He was shot when they realised that they couldn't handle a massive, scared and stroppy stallion. Poor Shergar :(

Madeleine McCann - stuff in the news today actually. Tbh we know what happened - she was taken by a paedophile. What we don't know is who that was or where her body is.

The moon landings - of course it happened.

MH370 - give it a chance. It will be found eventually.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 19/03/2014 12:48

I've always felt sad about Shergar.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 19/03/2014 12:50

xpost. and Madeleine McCann of course. I agree that that's what happened, Nl.

sittingatmydeskagain · 19/03/2014 12:51

I think they will eventually find the plane. And look at the news today about the Madeline McCann enquiry.

ReallyTired · 19/03/2014 13:04

I feel so sorry for the MH370 relatives. It must be horrific not knowing what has happened to your relatives and the specualation in the press doesn't really help. It is still early days and there is a lot of ocean to search. It took two years to find the Air France black box after its crash in 2009.

I believe that if it has been a terrorist act then a terrorist group would have claimed responsiblity by now.

mummytime · 19/03/2014 13:14

For MM I still wonder if the body will turn up buried where a certain Belgian newspaper said it was (and this agrees with the sex attacker theory I believe).
The Moon landings happened.

Yes the plane will turn up, but it could take 2 years or more :(

Martorana · 19/03/2014 20:19

"Ok, the moon landings happened, but the biggest mystery there is why they haven't bothered to go to the moon again? It was a long time ago now. Does anyone know why?"
Not a mystery at all. It was all about America and Russia playing "who's got the biggest". America won. No need to do it again. And people stated to be more aware of government spending- so there just wasn't the money. It's all economics and politics.

dolphinsandwhales · 19/03/2014 20:28

I'm still wondering if I'm the star of my own Truman show. I'm looking around suspiciously. Hmm

NoArmaniNoPunani · 19/03/2014 21:05

And Jim Morrison from the doors didn't die, he just had surgery to become Barry Manilow

JohnFarleysRuskin · 19/03/2014 21:09

They are getting closer to answers re. Plane.

We know who shot JFK.

We can't afford to send people to the moon. - elf and safety, plus no will to do it by govt. I expect next moon landing will be privately funded.

LEMmingaround · 19/03/2014 21:12

Whatever happened there isn't going to be a happy ending. We dont have a right to know anything and it it is likely that vital info is kept secret. Terrible for the families I would be going insane :(

SylvaniansKeepGettingHoovered · 19/03/2014 21:33

I feel very sorry for the families, and that we are seeing footage of them being dragged away in tears etc. It must be awful, they need privacy to deal with the situation (but at the same time I suppose need the publicity around the world), awful for them.

I do think the plane will be found, but we may never know why it happened.

Burmahere · 19/03/2014 21:39

Are you not following the 4 threads on this? Very interesting and will explain loads including why THE PHONES DIDN'T WORK OVER THE SEA .....

HopelessDei · 19/03/2014 21:42

I think that plane is, sadly, at the bottom of a very deep ocean. It will be found eventually. The conspiracy theorists are having a field day.

YouTheCat · 19/03/2014 21:46

I think this pilot might have the explanation: here

ALittleFaith · 19/03/2014 21:59

I think the fire on the plane theory is right.

I really hope they find out what happened to Claudia Lawrence. I saw there's a fresh appeal on crimewatch following new techniques, I hope her family get answers.

vrtra · 19/03/2014 23:37

fire on the plane is unlikely according to BBC. as the plane was turned twice, deliberately, away from the proposed emergency landing destination, long after smoke would have become overwhelming. also no good reason to switch off transponder.

my pet theory is hijack with collusion from 1 or more countries it flew over. even more unlikely tho. my gut feeling is improbable accident ie electronics fault. if it were terrorists we'd have "claiming responsibility" by now.

Mimishimi · 20/03/2014 01:20

I've been wasting hours on Tomnod. Now the maps are focused on the Indian Ocean. Getting a sense of how vast and lonely yet also how beautiful the sea is. Hope they can find it soon.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/03/2014 04:00
is what happens when you tell Buzz Aldrin he never walked on the moon.
daisychain01 · 20/03/2014 04:21

Lord Lucan is the landlord in our village pub

HopelessDei · 20/03/2014 04:29

They may have found something...couple of miles off west coast of Oz.
