To ask him to stop buying DD clothes

I think I am BU.

Ex p nearly always turns up with new clothes for baby DD everytime he visits (3 x a week). It's really kind of him but it's always something 'cheap' in bright garish colours, often with a tacky slogan emblazoned on.

DD is unlikely to wear these things as she has lots of lovely clothes already and I just don't want to dress her in the clothes he brings.

Should I ask him to stop or just smile and say thanks?

Assuming your exP is also your DDs Dad, YABU.

It's nice that he wants to buy things for his child, it's not worth making him feel like he shouldn't choose things for his own child just because he chooses things you don't like.

Be gracious, and put your dd in some of the clothes before he arrives.

Yes, YABU. He's trying to do a nice thing.

She'll be getting very messy soon enough and you'll be grateful for lots of spares.

He is DDs dad, he is so sweet with her and being so kind.

He just has such terrible taste -( in my opinion).

Could you say "she has tonnes of clothes but it'd be great if you could buy her a bath seat/a jumperoo/some toys"?

I already have tried suggesting other things such a books, a bouncy chair etc, but he just keeps turning up with these clothes saying he couldn't resist etc.

Oh a btw I sympathise about the terrible taste. The things my DH tries to dress DD in! Poor child.

Aw bless him just grin and bear it then. I jst change my DD when DH isn't around and claim she got her lovely plaid/stripes/spots combo dirty.

My Mum and my MIL both bought clothes for DS with things like 'my daddy's the coolest' (ick) written on them. I smiled, said thanks, and sent him to nursery in them as everything he wears to nursery gets fucked up. He's being nice, smile, say thanks, never dress your DD in his clothes except maybe when he comes over.

What CailinDana says, and back it up with "if you're going to (wherever he buys the clothes from) could you please pick her up some socks/vests/whatever?" Focus his mind a but more on getting one specific thing.
Dress her in the clothes he brings for his time with her so he can be proud Dad and use some as nursery clothes for messier times of the day.
