..say the largest size for cabin baggage is 55cm x 40cm x 20cm they'll accept a suitcase which is H56 x W35 x D23 cm? Confused

It's not only Ryanair. In 2005 I was charged nearly 300 pounds for oversized hold luggage by Martinair. It was a squashy sports bag but was too long. Their maximum hold luggage size was not printed anywhere on our documentation as I checked afterwards. I've also never been treated so rudely as I was by their check in attendant by anyone, ever.

At least Ryanair are upfront about their charges, they may be in the small print but they are there. Other airlines apply them by stealth.

Are you sure of the measurements OP? I managed to add about 5cm in each direction the last time I measured my cabin baggage suitcase.

Thanks queen but it's Next luggage and I've taken measurements from their website.

YABU about the luggage size, its clearly stated on the website. Ikea sell a suitable case with wheels which costs £15 btw. Also the msx weight is 10kg.

However you may be able to cancel the amended flight as its changed by more than 3 hours. They changed mine from 8pm to 10am, so now I have to take the DC out of school Angry

Thanks chippy they did offer the option to cancel but there were no suitable alternatives and we've paid for the hotel! hire car, MotoGP tickets etc etc
