I am at a work/training course today. I lift shared with a colleague/friend (about 10 mins out my way). I drove. She is bored/ill and has left early at lunch with another friend of hers who was here.
We have another course in a few weeks. She is supposed to drive. I don't want to have to leave early if she gets bored again.
WIBU to cancel this arrangement and just drive myself?

That wnbu at all. Do it.

I would be extremely annoyed if my staff left a training course early. (Unless she was truly unwell)

pluCaChange · 13/03/2014 17:58

Given that she's established that she might bugger off if she feels like it, I wouldn't trust her for a lift home, no.

littlewhitebag · 13/03/2014 18:09

I would tell her that given she left the course today early you are going to drive yourself to the next one in case she wants to leave it early also. You are being upfront and honest. It's a bit cheeky to leave a work course half way through.

tigermoll · 13/03/2014 18:17

So did you have to leave early as well because you were giving her a lift? That is beyond cheeky!

TheCraicDealer · 13/03/2014 18:19

She left because she was "bored"? Jeez, I hope you're not in a responsible role like, say, the medical profession.

Grin

Honestly though, that's pretty bad form.

macdoodle · 13/03/2014 19:07

Haha well yes we are both medics. But to be fair, this is a voluntary days training, which we choose to do to keep up to date. So not compulsory or a necessity. And we were both using annual leave days to do it.
It was free but with some specialist speakers, and yes pretty boring. I feel it's rude and bad form to leave early though she wasn't the only one. In fact the afternoon session was much better and far more useful, so she lost out by going early.
She got a lift with someone else who left early. I stayed to the end.
I will drive myself to the next one I think.

If you don't want to be honest, just say you're going to ... afterwards, or you're not arriving from your home in the morning. No problem.
