We were listening to some pretty happy music this morning. Dd was bopping along while colouring. Dh walked in and seemed to enjoy the music too. O got up to dance. Dd freaked out a bit and started screaming so he told me to stop. Wtf?

People actually dance in their kitchens?

Blu · 13/03/2014 12:52

How old is Dd?

If 2, then YABU - it is obviously completely unreasonable for a 2 year old to have to accept someone else dancing to 'her' music! Like the MN-ers 2 yo who had a massive tantrum when someone else went outside because it was 'MY outside'.

If 7 or older, well there is her image to protect. DS leaps across the room and draws the curtains at the first hint that I might start dancing.

RabbitPies, you mean you don't?!

RabbitPies · 13/03/2014 13:05

I'm with Blu's DS. I'd have left home if I'd been subjected to that.

PostHocErgoPropterHoc · 13/03/2014 13:12

Aww, Rabbit, where's the joy? Blu's ds is a child and it is indeed a child's prerogative to be embarrassed by their parents. Although I'm not looking forward to my dcs reaching that age. They come and join me dancing, or they are the ones who start and I join them.

You have every right to get your funk on in the kitchen. If my six year old had objected to my dancing I would have invited her to leave. Certainly, your dh should have backed you up...

Dance more often. Listen to music on headphones whilst doing housework. She'll become desensitized to the sight of you boogieing away after a while. Your DH needs to not take out his early morning grump on you though.

We dance quite a bit on our house, my eldest son (14) just rolls his eyes but the little ones laugh or join in or just ignore.

I often have music on when doing housework, cooking, washing up. We are more likely to have music on that the tv.

It can help my mood if I am tired or grumpy etc.

Dancing is good!
