I have been offered a bargin on a Facebook selling site.
Its worth say 200 and its advertised for 40.
Lots of people are commenting but as I was first I have it, and im very excited as there is no way I could afford it new.
Would I BU to be a bit sceptical even though ive checked the price tons and am delighted?

Maybe just ask her what made her decide to sell it? It's entirelypossible she really just doesn't need the money and can't be arsed to wait ages for it to sell.. Or possibly she doesn't know how much they are really worth.. I think one of the plus sides of FB selling is that you go to the sellers house and you have their name. I think it makes people a bit more honest

MikeTheShite · 12/03/2014 20:14

Veggy she doesnt have the time, space or want the hassle of bargaining as she's having a tough time as it is.
She's having a clear out it seems

oh a first gen would be about 8 years old if I'm right? So it is an older pram. Maybe the price reflects that.. I'd go have a look though anyway as BUgaboos hold up pretty well

TheGirlFromIpanema · 12/03/2014 20:16

I've sold things on FB for an absolute steal before, just to get rid of them out of the house without fees/hassle/auctions etc.

Not necessarily (or even probably) stolen imo OP Hmm What a strange way some people think!

cherrypez · 12/03/2014 20:19

Veggy, sorry, it just irritates me when people are rude about others' literacy skills, and I'm an English teacher. Mumsnet is for discussion, not to be made to feel small. Rant over Grin.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 12/03/2014 20:21

My guess would be that it's a bit older or a bit more used. I bought a Mountain Buggy from eBay for around £40 last year, specifically for the beach & coastal paths. It had seen a lot of use but is still holding up very well.

Maybe this is similar?

MikeTheShite · 12/03/2014 20:22

Thank you for all the advice

I've sold stuff on FB for loads less than I would on ebay etc. It's usually if it's a bulky item (like a pram) and I can't be faffed with doing proper descriptions and pictures and want rid asap. Turn up, see if you want it and don't be afraid to say no if it's not what you expected - you never know it might actually be a bargain Grin

ProjectGainsborough · 12/03/2014 20:23

Glad other posters got in before me to say that the grammar pedantry is quite rude.

For what it's worth, I could understand the OP quite clearly, but I struggled to make head or tail of what the fuck Desiderata was on about.

TheGirlFromIpanema · 12/03/2014 20:30

Grandma Pedantry was rude?? Where?!

I only saw desideratdisciplebeing rude.

Leave poor 'ole grammar out if this PG Wink

I've got an old bugaboo that I keep meaning to list. I wouldn't ask much more than that for it. It's done three kids so about six years of daily use. It still functions but hasn't much value left I wouldn't have thought

Imnotmadeofeyes · 12/03/2014 20:45

My best bargain ever was a £20 dyson with spare tube, filter etc.

The lady selling it told me her cleaner preferred the Miele Grin

Sometimes people do just want rid and are happy to take a token payment rather than risking a car booter or something on free cycle.

Even if it stinks of fags or is a bit battered you'll still be quids in washing it down with a steam cleaner or something. As a last resort, sell it on with an honest description for what you paid.

MikeTheShite · 13/03/2014 10:56

I have it and its been in storage needs a good wash.
The lady was lovely and they are moving housw

Well done!

MikeTheShite · 13/03/2014 16:07

Thank you it was about time I had some.
Some people wouldn't have taken it as it has a fault meaning the handle is kind of jammed but I have a history of dd absolutely hating prams and only using a trike.
She is rather big in it, but sits in it alot better. i think it's due to being more snug. She has always been a snug baby. Never liked growbags. Was swaddled. Duvet always has to be tucked under mattress kind of thing.
If only I had used mn for buggy research when I was pregnant! Thank you to all those who said it was worth looking at Smile
