AIBU?

To think that The Queen has no sense of taste

Most of this thread serves me right. But still....

I bought a box of The Queen's favourite chocolates, Prestat, just because it has a royal warrant and I wanted a taste of how the Royals live And they were on special offer The box was pretty but when we tried them.. MEH! they were just like a box of Milk Tray. They even had Turkish Delight bleah

The descriptions were hilarious and reminded me of the Monty Python chocolate sketch "crunchy frog lovingly enrobed in lark's vomit" -

Am I going to get sued for this? But honestly, it was just an ordinary box of chocolates so why does Queenie think they're so great when Hotel Chocolat sells MUCH nicer chocolates (at 3 x the priced).

Is this thread too middle-class? If it helps, I had a Freddo the other day and it was DEE LISH US.

YABVVU Prestat do lush violet creams, which are clearly the best chocs.
And Hotel Chocolat stuff is manky and tastes of fat.

On Royal Mumsnet: "Is one unreasonable to suggest a toffee chocolate before dinner? One must remind the OF (Old Fool) to tell his butler to put on some extra toothpaste tonight. It's simply one's duty to look after one's dentures for crown and country."

I was given some Prestat mint wafers once- they were tasty but too expensive (and I'm a Cadbury girl, tbh).

Try the Spanish Valor chocolate, they are gorgeous. I was given a tin as a gift and was so upset when they finished.

This thread is very unfair to 'er Maj Smile Doesn't the Royal Warrant coat of arms mean that a product is used by anyone in the Royal household? So it could be the Do E's bad taste and meanwhile Queenie is taking a sneaky Freddo out of her peach coloured handbag on the QT....

Anthrax ripple anyone? Stormy petrel on a stick. Great MP sketch. I'd forgotten that one!

Apparently Phil the Greek likes a Skol lager. Jakey bastard.

I didn't know you still got Skol. Was that the one with the advert where the Vikings sang 'Skol skol skol skol' in the manner of the Monty Python Spam sketch?

Very unfair to Her Maj; don't forget that when she was young chocolates were unavailable.

Don't worry, I think she had her sources.

I could see a Sophie Wessex (mum of a Brownie...I found out this week) being partial to a Flake but really the rest of the Royal Family don't seem big choccy types

Lol at Sophie liking a Flake. I suspect Kate has handed out lots of Ferrero Rocher at her parents' soirées.

I apologise it is the equally skanky Double Diamond Phil the Greek is a fan of. He should show some national pride and stick to mythos.

I thought they were duty bound to endorse a load of overpriced but long established British firms. It helps to promote the produce and also ticks a box when that ugly argument about the monarchy rears its head.

Someone in the palace has been eating them for five years.
