Allowing for the fact that she git caught in the end.

OP posts:
LynetteScavo · 11/03/2014 22:16

She wasn't that clever, or she wouldn't have been found out.

deakymom · 11/03/2014 22:42

desperate very very desperate this is why people leave the country to get away from social services

Jux · 11/03/2014 22:44

If clever means mentally broght, then I would say no, she's not clever. Mentally bright might come up with the idea, but also immediately reject it as a) very likely to fail, b) illegal, and c) very likely to bring about exactly the consequence one is trying to avoid, and probably more and worse consequences.

No, not clever. Sad. Stupid. Manipulative. Dishonest.

Spero · 11/03/2014 22:48

Yes because of course all her other children were taken away for no reason whatsoever, just to satisfy evil social workers lust for babies.

In what world is this a clever reaction to state concerns about your parenting? You are just providing even clearer proof that you have significant problems.

Sadly women who have baby after baby taken away generally have rejected all support offered or refuse to accept they need it. So what else do we do? We can't sterilise them.

OneUp · 11/03/2014 23:09

I agree it was clever and desperate :( It makes me feel sad for her, even though there was a probably a good reason all her other babies were taken away. Even if she was a shit parent to all her other children she still must have really loved the baby to go ahead with this plan.

tmae · 11/03/2014 23:26

I don't think it was clever simply because it would become obvious that she wasn't the woman in question, therefore it would be investigated and no doubt she'd be caught.

Caitlin17 · 11/03/2014 23:31

What a very, very odd opening post. I don't agree "clever" is morally neutral. Has anyone on here not said "what a clever girl/boy/cat" about something as mundane as using the potty/litter tray. It's meant to be praise.

Also very odd OP hasn't a word to say about the real Mrs Kay Costin. Imagine pitching up at the hospital and being told, oh no you've had your baby.

Morloth · 12/03/2014 05:51

Nope, not clever.

It was never going to work. Was a crap plan.

If she were clever she would have done a runner as soon as she was out the hospital doors with the baby.

Or possibly not have found herself in this situation at all.

MusicalEndorphins · 12/03/2014 06:36

I think she was quite stupid, most likely to come up with a harebrained scheme. Sounds like something Lucy from "I Love Lucy" would do. I imagine she has serious problems, and hope she does gets the help that she needs.

Pippintea · 12/03/2014 07:38

Clever:

  1. quick to understand, learn, and devise or apply ideas; intelligent.
"she was an extremely clever and studious young woman" synonyms: intelligent, bright, smart, brilliant; More antonyms: stupid
  1. skilled at doing or achieving something; talented.
"he was very clever at getting what he wanted" synonyms: skilful, dexterous, adroit, deft, nimble, nimble-fingered, handy, adept; More showing skill and originality; ingenious. "a simple but clever idea for helping people learn computing" synonyms: shrewd, astute, sharp, acute, quick, sharp-witted, quick-witted; More antonyms: ill-advised, foolish
  1. informal
sensible; well advised. "Joe had a feeling it wasn't too clever, leaving Dolly alone"
  1. BRIT.informal
healthy or well. "I was up and about by this time though still not too clever"

No, not clever OP. Manipulative, deceitful maybe but not clever.

wannaBe · 12/03/2014 12:59

my dp is one of four children taken into care (the last one at birth). One of his parents bundled him into a car and drove off with him during a contact visit and the police had to give chase.

If that were printed in the press some might say "they must have been desperate, I hope they're getting the help they need." As someone who knows the reasons why those particular parents had their children taken into care sympathy is the last thing I feel for them.

This woman has been considered an unfit parent by ss not once, but four times. Many child abusers are desperate, devious, manipulative, but certainly not worthy of sympathy. Now, she may not be a child abuser - we don't know. But she is a devious manipulative lier and I find it very difficult to have any sympathy for her. If she wants to keep a child she should be going through parenting classes, getting whatever it is it would take to make her a good parent. SS certainly don't sit around waiting for people to have babies so they can snatch them away as some would have you believe....

If there is a care order, she can't take the baby without LA permission - if there is no care order but fears about baby's safety the police can take the baby into police protection to keep him in hospital.

I suppose there would be serious concerns if a pregnant woman turned up, no notes, no GP, no evidence of ante natal care etc etc. I would expect a hospital to raise concerns with hospital social work team.
