To want to stage a breastfeeding protest in London

So I think we have all heard about the poor breastfeeding Mum labeled a 'tramp' in Rugeley.

I think that here in the capital we need to show our solidarity with this lady and all other breast feeding moms and stage a mass breast feed in protest that in this apparently enlightened age we are still disrespected for doing the best for our children.

Don't understand how you found my comment ageist beagleeyes? You were the one that said 'as their children grow up they will care even less'. I just echoed that. Confused

I dont see the point for a 'protest' against a troll on a website. If it was a company who'd chucked her out for breastfeeding I could understand but this seems way OTT to me

I'm not entirely sure the reference to her looking like a tramp was because she was breast feeding in all honesty.

Protest if you like. Those interested will join you, those not will roll their eyes and keep on walking.

Not sure why protesting in London, where this particular incident did not happen, is a good idea. Or indeed anything other than erm...a trip to London.

Because I didn't say older people were at all critical OP, they just don't care any more. Feeding your baby is a tiny miniscule part of bringing up your child,
there's many more things ahead and what was important in the first few months fades into insignificance.

manicinsomniac · 11/03/2014 18:52

Are we sure that the 'tramp' comment was directed at her because she was breastfeeding? Looking at the photo it seems far more likely to have been because she was sitting on a couple of outside steps eating a sandwich. Still doesn't make it okay to judge her or photograph her going about her life (surely that's a crime?!) but the breastfeeding looks like the least unusual and least likely to attract tramp comments of the three things she is doing.

dunedin Where in Blackheath? I bf all over the village regularly!

I think mass breastfeeding protests make people less sympathetic rather than more, tbh.

I bf both my DC (19&17) and never had a comment from anyone.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I've drawn the conclusion; protesting - no
volunteering as a breast feeding support worker- yes.
