Just that really.

It's A&E time isn't it?

Just packing and when DH gets DD1 home from karate DD2 and I will head off.

OU essay due in 2 days. Bugger.

Yes you are. Bloody kids.

If it makes you feel better my then 6 year old DD shoved blutak up her nose twice. In the same week. It's fairly common the nurse said to me feel less embarrassed

Do you have a walk in centre instead of going to a&e?

I'm an ex theatre nurse so I know a diverse range of items and age of children and occasional adult come in having poked things up noses and into ears.

We're in a small town equal distance from 2 towns. The one with a Walk in centre isn't local to the hospital I prefer so may as well head to the A&E dept I know (DD1 with falls and DD2 as 'foreign object' child)

OU books are too big to take. Will take crochet.

On the other hand DD2 is currently brushing her teeth, voluntarily, for the first time...

If you search the archives on here there is some sort of tip that involves holding closed the empty nostril and blowing in your childs mouth and the object should blow out or something like that!

Thanks Claimed but it's a hungry hippo ball and she gave it a good poke - just a hint of blue when you shine a light.

All packed, though I took the house half to pieces finding my 4mm crochet hook. Still DH can sort that :D

So apart from phone to MN, crochet, change of clothes each and minimal toiletries, night nappies,, notepad (I write short stories and hospitals are good places to pick up characters/plot) what else do I need?

If they can get it out - great. But if it needs an anaesthetic we may be a while. And she'll be drowsy, and I can crochet in peace.

I hope it's not overnight, but I'm 25 miles away from hoe so best to have it all in the car.

Can DH not take her, whilst you stay home and study?

You tried pepper? Or it's wedged too hard?

I hope you don't have a long night x

There's no tweezer option on this. Too far up, too big and hard. I found another ball from the set to take with me to show them what they're up against. I'm not doom-mongering but after 10 years in operating theatres I know what I'm up against. And this could be a right sosd. Will see if she'll hold still for a picture.

DH due back any second

Have you tried pressing the other nostril shut and getting her to blow as hard as she can through the nostril with the ball.

DD (aged 4) did this recently at school with a clear piece of plastic!!

Handful of pepper causing an almighty sneeze worked for us

Well taking the picture revealed a small hole - it was a large bead but not a hungry hippo ball.

I got her to give it a good attempt at blowing it out and then applied tweezers. DH held her and the torch. DD1 held DD2s hand while saying weirdly adult soothing things. DD2 stayed still and almost smiling. Got it out on attempt 2.

It was not the size of the blue ball she had demonstrated (thank goodness).

I did it with a peanut the second day of school, had decided I didnt want to go, and elder DB had gone to hospital the week before for doing it :)

DM was NOT amused as she had two year old twins to drag with us :)
