To be nearly naked and in full view and not care?

Writerwannabe83 · 10/03/2014 17:09

Currently 37 weeks pregnant, sporting a very big belly and very big boobs and no matter what I wear I feel really, really uncomfortable. Everything feels so tight and restrictive - bras are unbearable and even my maternity jeans and leggings are leaving waistband imprint marks across my stomach because of how tight they now are.

As a result, whenever I come home I put the heating on, wait for the house to warm up a little and then I strip off down to just my huge sized granny knickers and then happily spend my evening like this Grin

Due to the layout of our estate I know that when I'm in the kitchen (nearly naked cooking or nearly naked washing up for example) people can undoubtedly see me - but I just don't care!! If people can't cope with seeing a heavily pregnant women in just a pair of pants then it's not my problem Grin

I was telling my sister about it earlier and she was Gobsmacked and said I really shouldn't be doing it so as not to offend anyone - she said some people don't like the look of pregnant women, let alone ones with their bump and boobs hanging out!

AIBU though to just not care??
I just want to be semi-naked and comfortable in my own house!!!

I'm a bit concerned about enjoying being semi-naked so much though Grin

I wouldn't feel offended or anything, but you've no idea what kind of nut jobs could be watching you and how much of an interest they could take in you. Sad but true.

TOADfan · 10/03/2014 21:11

I am always just in my pants but I live at home so would put something on if im going downstairs so my stepdad doesnt get an eyeful.
If its just me and DP in the house im always making a cuppa etc in just my pants. YANBU

VikingLady · 10/03/2014 21:16

I couldn't bear clothes after I had DD. I think it was the hot flushes combined with massive amounts of codeine, diclofenac, enforced Bf boobs, section scar and exhaustion - my skin was so sensitive! I wore granny pants and that was it. When we had visitors I added thin pjs (shorts). If people don't want to see it they shouldn't look!

I was the size of a bus, btw Grin

Koothrapanties · 10/03/2014 21:24

When heavily pg last August I suddenly became somewhat of a nudist. I was such an attractive sight... Picture stretch marks, swollen ankles, hairy legs, hairy belly, sweaty everything, massive bump... Oh I was a sexy beast.

You sound like a lovely happy pregnant woman. Enjoy!

itsbetterthanabox · 10/03/2014 21:28

I do that all the time and I'm not pregnant. Yanbu. It's inside my house I can be as naked as I like. People are so ashamed of bodies it's sad.

LynetteScavo · 10/03/2014 21:34

Buy some blinds, woman!

I find things like this highly amuzing, and would be laughing at you [immature]

(I found the neighbour bouncing on his trampoline in just his dressing gown very amusing - it get flying up! Oh, how I laughed!)

5madthings · 10/03/2014 21:39

I did this when pregnancy with ds1 and ds2, summer babies and I often have just pants on in the morning or evening. I will go to the kitchen to get a drink and dp says the same..neighbours might see. We are in a quiet cul de sac so not worried about passers by. We are also set back from the road and there is a driveway and bushes and trees etc.

I am not preg but still love stripping off at the end of the day when kids in bed and in the am I have to wait for my moisturiser to soak in before I can get dressed.

Writerwannabe83 · 10/03/2014 22:00

lynette : I find things like this highly amuzing, and would be laughing at you [immature]

No problem with this - I laugh at myself every time I see my reflection Grin

I guess it depends on how close your ground floor windows are to general pavementyness. Where I live, people walk very close to my kitchen windows, and my bedroom windows. I am shocking at DIY, and net curtains give me the rage, so in order to protect the general public and not get arrested for indecency I've stuck static opaque thingies on the windows.

Pollyputthekettle · 10/03/2014 22:42

Yanbu. But bear in mind someone may delight in adding an image of your pregnant glory to fb or you tube. People are twonks. Just sayin.

HootHootTootToot · 11/03/2014 00:47

Sorry, I think its a bit odd and I wouldn't do it. I bet people would be offended and creeped out if it was some old guy doing it.

I do sympathise with the desire to not want to wear clothes. I get sensitive to anything restrictive at certain times of the month. I am not at all overweight so it's not that. I find things itchy and I feel hot.

Morloth · 11/03/2014 02:39

Nah undies are my cut off.

If it were a man in just his boxers/pants in his house it wouldn't be an issue.

So why does it matter that the chest you can see is female?

Just DON'T cook bacon.

Pregnancy is a stupid arrangement.

Menolly · 11/03/2014 02:57

yanbu, if they don't want to see your nearly-nakedness then they shouldn't look through your windows Grin

CrazyOldCatLady · 11/03/2014 08:55

I had to sleep in just granny pants right through my last pregnancy, I couldn't stand wearing more. All winter DH was in cosy jammies and I was nudey beside him.

YANBU, you're in your own home and it's just a body, I don't see what the fuss is about.

Writerwannabe83 · 11/03/2014 09:00

Exactly - they're just breasts. If they can be exposed on a beach then they can be exposed in my own kitchen Smile

Let's be clear about this. Clothes are not natural. We are all born without them. The only sane reason for wearing clothing is to keep warm in cold weather.
If anyone is upset or frightened by seeing a body in its natural state, that is their sad problem not yours.
FWIW I am usually naked around the house. At the moment I have just a towel over my shoulders because I was a bit chilly coming out of the shower. Since I'm working at home today I won't be getting dressed at all.

Naked cooking? With boobs hanging out? My nipples hurt just thinking about it. Shock

HootHootTootToot · 11/03/2014 10:53

Clothes ARE natural unless people live in hot countries. Confused As humans moved northwards into colder climates they started wearing clothes, presumably because it was easier than waiting around until they evolved into fur clad humans Grin

Jbck · 11/03/2014 11:05

I wore a maternity vest and sarong round my waist in the garden when pg with DD1, it was a heatwave and I felt so uncomfortable in clothes. Sometimes I just wore the sarong but above my boobs, didnt always bother with my big pants.
I'd be worried about naked boobs though from a safety point of view, I was forever shutting them in the fridge and shower door forgetting how big they were.
Your kitchen, your boobs but watch any hot things!

Sallyingforth · 11/03/2014 11:31

Hoot
It was precisely because humans migrated from warmer climates to the colder north that they had to adopt the artificial covering of animal furs to keep warm. Artificial = unnatural.
There is no logical reason to cover the body other than for warmth. Anything else is just a matter of custom and practice, or religion.

Writerwannabe83 · 12/03/2014 12:42

Well I tried some of the suggestions, loose clothing, husband's shirts etc but it just wasn't the same!! My boobs just felt so hot, itchy and uncomfortable!!!

Currently topless typing on my laptop and about to venture to the kitchen to make a cup of tea Smile I am wearing leggings though so I'm not quite as naked today, hopefully that will appease the neighbours Grin

YANBU at all!

Just press on your belly though - I felt very much like you did and was retaining water and swollen which is a sign of pre-eclampsia. I just thought it was normal!

I was induced at 36 weeks with twins and was enormous, I couldn't bear anything touching my body. I was a little bit concerned that when I was admitted I would strip myself naked in my sleep as I had been doing it regularly since about 20 weeks Blush

Snatchoo · 12/03/2014 13:05

Sorry, press on it and if it doesn't spring back you are retaining water. Get your midwife to do a pee test.

Writerwannabe83 · 12/03/2014 13:18

What's a pee test??

The skin over my bump has been incredibly tight for as long as I can remember, hence why I find clothes so uncomfortable. I first mentioned it to my midwife many weeks ago but she didn't seem too concerned once she'd ruled out other signs of pre-eclampsia. Over the last few days my feet have definitely been more swollen but I assumed it was just late pregnancy - I checked my BP last night and it was about 125/64 which is pretty normal for me.

My baby has always been over the 100th percentile line on his growth chart (I'm scanned every 4 weeks) and general consensus is that my discomfort is down to my skin having to stretch so much to accommodate baby. You know that horrible tight/sore sensation you get when you're sunburnt?? That's how the top of my bump always feels Sad
