I drink the Clipper decaf because it doesn't use the chemical process for removing the caffeine. It is my regular drink now, even though I'm a long way off pregnancy and babies! It is a bit on the pricey side though Sad

Although I like it there is some difference to regular tea, and it needs longer to steep to get a decent taste. I find regular tea too strong and can't abide it over-brewed.

When I was pregnant, decaf Tetley tasted like dishwater. Decaf PG Tips was all I could stomach. I realise that might mean nothing about how they really taste!

bobbywash · 07/03/2014 08:02

Just be carefull, I did the decaff thing, and it gave me symptoms like flu for 3 -4 days. I actually thought I had a virus, joint pain, headaches, temperature etc. Apparently it is not uncommon.

I now drink decaff tea all the time just to keep the caffine levels down (but caffinated coffee) and really can't tell the difference in taste.

Bunbaker · 07/03/2014 08:04

I drink PG Tips. I find Clipper teas have very little taste.

HermioneWeasley · 07/03/2014 08:08

Sainsburys decaff tea (blue box) is the most authentic tasting one I've had

actiongirl1978 · 07/03/2014 08:10

I have been drinking decaf for years due to a heart problem. I love Yorkshire though I can't get it in Ireland. Barry's is ok here, but usually I get not from lidl. To make any tea taste ok I use two bags in a bug or three bags in a very large mug.

If lidl don't stock it in England, you should write to them - they stock it in Ireland, called 'Knightsbridge tea'.

Twintery · 07/03/2014 08:13

I have decaf Tetley and dont notice a difference.
But I am not a foodie hth.

Writerwannabe83 · 07/03/2014 09:25

I've been on De-Caf tea now for 1 year and 7 months and when I first made the switch I genuinely couldn't tell the difference. I'm baffled by those who can, they must have super sensitive taste buds and really honed in to caffeine Smile

I have tried various brands but the one I have stuck to is Red Bush - it's like an African flavoured infused tea and it's just scrummy!!!!!

getdownshep · 07/03/2014 09:49

I've drunk decaf tea for years, can't drink normal tea now as it gives me a headache and makes me feel wound up.
They have decaf PG in my pound shop now.

MorrisZapp · 07/03/2014 09:53

I'm with really1234. I've been off caffeine for years and years, and find that the only decaf tea I enjoy is decaf earl grey. Asda have the best one, it's about a third of the price of Twinings.

In a tight corner, I will drink tetleys etc decaf if my need for a hot drink is pressing. But to me, it does taste odd.

Decaf coffee on the other hand, I can never detect any difference in taste, regardless of brand. This has been my downfall a few times when cafes have promised me decaf then given me the strong stuff. I don't realise until an hour later when my face starts to feel as if its made of plastic and my heart starts racing. Hello 3am, we meet again.

Mabelface · 07/03/2014 09:56

I drink Twinings decaff earl grey. Don't like the Asda one, it's too strong.

Oldraver · 07/03/2014 10:05

Have you tried Red Tea ?

CattyBrown · 07/03/2014 10:11

I agree with other posters. PG tips decaff is lovely

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 07/03/2014 10:13

I drink either PG tips or Tetley decaff....... I've never been able to tell the difference (I have normal tea when I'm out and about).

WilsonFrickett · 07/03/2014 10:33

Morris you and I are both caffeine-sensitive little flowers then Grin someone gave me a full caff coffee once and I thought I was having a heart attack!

EmperorTomatoKetchup · 07/03/2014 10:45

I don't know if it was just my pregnancy altered taste buds but Yorkshire decaf tasted really fishy to me, I couldn't drink it. I think I tried every single one and PG Tips were the only ones I liked.

MsMarvel · 07/03/2014 11:03

So many recommendations to try! I think top of the list are earl grey, pg tips and Yorkshire, will work my way through them! Thank you!

Twinings decaf earl grey is my favourite. Good taste.

Smilesandpiles · 07/03/2014 11:34

PG tips.

DS (trying to be helpful) mixed both boxes together in the tea bag pot. I can't tell the difference between the two.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 07/03/2014 11:39

I only drink decaff tea but the main one I have is the Dragonfly Vanilla and Redbush - gorgeous :)

NeedsAsockamnesty · 07/03/2014 12:28

I'm trying to remember what ones I use but I can't be bothered to go to the kitchen.

I want to say a newish tesco own brand earl grey (I like with milk) think its finest and dragonfly roobios earl grey I like without milk

NeverQuiteSure · 07/03/2014 13:45

DH had to cut down on caffeine (for medical reasons) and was very anti-decaf until he tried Yorkshire Tea's decaf variety.
