AIBU to re-gift?

My dd had lots of beautiful things for her birthday, but I honestly don't think she will play with some of them, is it very ungrateful of me to re-gift? Or do I just leave them sat in her bedroom untouched for the next couple of years?

Re-gift them, absolutely.

Nanny0gg · 04/03/2014 16:33

Why do you think she won't play with them?

Why can't you rotate the gifts so that in a couple of months when she's lost interest in some you can produce something 'new'?

Cheesesticks · 04/03/2014 16:37

I know my dd and she just isn't interested In the things she has been given, she is 8 so knows her own mind now.

I would definitely re-gift. Think of it as recycling or finding something a new home. I hate waste :)

MissMilbanke · 04/03/2014 16:38

Completely acceptable in my book

Just try to remember who gave you what though or could become a tad awkward.

Stinklebell · 04/03/2014 16:39

Yes, I re-gift

Just make sure you don't give something back to the person who gave it to you in the first place

Crowler · 04/03/2014 16:40

I take all of the small Lego boxsets my boys receive at birthdays as a matter of course at this point & put them on my re-gift shelf. We're drowning in Legos.

CPtart · 04/03/2014 16:51

I do it all the time. Adults and children alike. Saves a fortune!

Cleartheclutter · 04/03/2014 16:52

I re-gift loads, and have no problem if people re-gift the gifts I gave them

WilsonFrickett · 04/03/2014 16:54

I do it too but you must keep a list of who gave what to avoid embarrassment down the line and be careful of things that are really unusual if re-gifting in her peer group.

LoonvanBoon · 04/03/2014 17:59

Never unreasonable to regift - but I second WilsonFrickett on the importance of the list of who gave what.

PickleSarnie · 04/03/2014 19:33

Absolutely regift. A million times better that what one of my rude NCT mum "friends" did which was ask for the receipt so she could return it.

Nocomet · 04/03/2014 19:53

I've re gifted duplicates and a dinosaur book. DD2 thought dinosaurs were scary.

But you can't have too much Lego!

BikeRunSki · 04/03/2014 19:59

Sounds fine to me
