My DH used an apostrophe incorrectly. AIBU to divorce him?

It was actually twice in one shopping list. He is buying tea's and yoghurt's, apparently.

What if someone finds the list and posts it on here? I couldn't stand the shame :(

AIBU to just start divorce proceedings now, or just hit him on the head with a rolled up newspaper?

tea's - Confused. Does he mean teabags?

WelshMaenad · 02/03/2014 10:25

YANBU.

Tea's? Not just 'tea'?

SaucyJack · 02/03/2014 10:26

Why did you marry him in the first place?

This can't be the first time this has come to light, shirley?

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 02/03/2014 10:26

T's maybe? He's buying letters?

Morgause · 02/03/2014 10:27

LTB

nennypops · 02/03/2014 10:27

You can go for the newspaper for now, but tell him that if he does it again it's definitely divorce.

And if he says "could of", tell him he's going under the patio.

ohfourfoxache · 02/03/2014 10:28

Yanbu

What example is he setting your dc? You have to protect them and yourself from this grammatical mayhem.

DH frequently writes shopping lists that are littered with spelling errors. I am seriously questioning our future together.

mrsminiverscharlady · 02/03/2014 10:29

YANBU.

DH texted me the other day to say 'your right' (which I usually am tbh, no need to text me). It annoys me that he earns more than me when he can't even punctuate correctly Angry

Three words for you OP cherchez la femme.

MoonRover · 02/03/2014 10:31

Kill the bastard.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 02/03/2014 10:31

I check DP's shopping lists before I send him to the shops, in case he drops it and a mumsnetter finds it and is traumatised.

babyheaves · 02/03/2014 10:31

I don't even know what tea's is meant to be. We only buy one brand.

I just can't look at him in the same way any more.

The standard response to apostrophe misuse is firing squad.

You're in a mixed marriage OP.....

My DH uses 'I was sat'. He told me he was buying me this T-shirt

Bastard.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 02/03/2014 10:35

Stab him. A jury of mnetters will find you innocent.

RiverTam · 02/03/2014 10:37

that would be a deal-breaker for me, I'm afraid. So Sad for you.

sazzlesb · 02/03/2014 10:40

So glad to see I'm not the only punctuation pedant with a DH who is far too liberal with apostrophes when it comes to plurals. He's not allowed to help the children with their literacy homework as they have passed the (very low) punctuation and spelling bar he has set - they're 8 years old.
And don't get me started of "could of"

babyheaves · 02/03/2014 10:42

I know :( I have to think of the children though.

Could anyone recommend a good book on this subject? Maybe I could leave it on his bedside table as a way of starting the conversation?

Misusing an apostrophe once is a reason to LTB. To misuse apostrophes twice can only be punished by firing squad.

sunbathe · 02/03/2014 10:48

Love that t-shirt!
