My interview has cancelled 2 hours before I'm due

To go I'm so upset I'm fed up with the knock sucks since being base redundant, whats my plan of action before I cry.

They cancelled a job interview on the day of the interview?

That's harsh - and unprofessional. I've never heard of that happening again.

I'd say they're probably a crap company to work for it they can do that, or they already knew exactly who they wanted to employ so decided not to waste anyone else's time.

Consider it a lucky esacape, at least you know and don't have to go through any more stress about the job.

Is it definitely cancelled rather than postponed? Sounds tough, even if they have a good idea of who they want to fill the position they should still have the courtesy to explain to all candidates. Or the position may no longer exist for other reasons and they don't want to waste your time

Postponed, this the second time it's been change first time appointment time changed the second time cancelled they then said it's postponed I said I'm not interested anymore to the Agency.

So you told them you are not interested anymore even though it is only postponed and you are upset because you wanted the job

Tbh if they cock you about now, they might be a pain to work for. Late paying you, crappy staff relations, inconsistent policies of ones that are not followed through...Obviously beggars can't be choosers. But actually they can.

What quietbatperson said. There may well be a reason why it can't go ahead. Not professional I agree, but that's life.

You either want to be considered for the job or you don't. If you do, suggest you get back on to the Agency sharpish and tell them you made a mistake.

There could be a really good reason - we had to cancel interviews a few months ago as we had a break in and the boss who was doing the interviews had to deal with police, insurance etc.

I wouldn't have pulled out - they will reschedule if they want you.

I work in recruitment and unfortunately this happens a lot. Businesses rarely run like clockwork - people are sick, sacked, called to some important meeting, have crisis after crisis to deal with, etc. Yes it's frustrating, but don't cut off your nose to spite your face!

Why on earth did you tell them you weren't interested any more? You will never get a job if you don't go to the interview, and I doubt the agency are going to be too impressed with you either.

It's unfortunate that they wanted to rearrange, but it's hardly that big a deal. Sometimes things happen, people go off sick, they get stuck at another place, something urgent comes up, they certainly didn't do it just to annoy you!

Sorry but I think that is an appalling attitude to have if you seriously want a job.

Your plan of action should have been to say 'oh, that's too bad. Can I ask why? When will I know the new interview date?'

Being unemployed sucks, but you do actually have to work pretty hard to get a new job. Deciding you can't be bothered because they had to reschedule doesn't bode terribly well if you are expecting this agency to be putting you forward as a good candidate...

Was it postponed for a good reason? Perhaps the interviewer is ill. I know you are fed up but really you should have kept this option open.

Its not just postponed though is it? This company has changed the time, then cancelled, and now postponed the re-arranged time.

How long is someone supposed to hang on for before even getting to the interview that's been arranged and postponed/cancelled twice now?

I am also job hunting but would be getting a bad impression of the company from this. I don't think its an appalling attitude to say that you don't want to be messed around by a company that can't act in a professional manner when it comes to recruiting staff.

After all, an interview is a two way process. The employer wants to see if they want the candidate to work for them, and the candidate gets to see if they like the employer and want the job. I wouldn't want to work for someone who kept letting me down before they've even met me.

Come to think of it, in 25 years of working, I don't think I've ever had an interview postponed or cancelled, let alone with only 2 hours notice. But this company has done it twice, for the same candidates? I bet the agency is not thinking very highly of them either.

No reasons has been given but postponed until further notice so they can whistle sorry I waited two weeks for this job, for my appointment to be changed then changed again then postponed I don't think so.

I'm annoyed really I understand problems occur but to change my appointment twice then cancel two hours before is awful.

I think everyone has a limit on how much re-scheduling they will take. However being on the other side, when recruiting sometimes things like this happen. Most firms are running pretty tight ships so if the interviewer is off sick or something of higher priority comes up at short notice (I have this a lot) then I'm afraid the interview would be postponed. I have to say if I had a candidate tell me that they didn't want to be considered anymore because of this I'd just think that they can't handle change and juggling priorities, it's something most employers look for these days. The labour market isn't that tight at the moment and employers can pick and choose unless the role is very specialist.

I think you are being a bit silly. It's annoying but it's pretty common for interviews to be rearranged. It has happened to me several times. In my area (law) the courts or clients can sometimes demand that something be done in a very short deadline, or someone can be called overseas at short notice. So interviews get bumped. We have numerous applicants for every role, so if someone told me to stuff it if I had to rearrange an interview I would shrug and move on to the raft of other candidates. It really is your loss.

We postponed a job interview last week at short notice because one of the senior members of the panel was taken ill suddenly. We have rearranged now. Sometimes it cant be helped

Sorry I meant to add I was advised by email earlier the company have said no reason postponed to further notice but since been advised they cancelled several other times to other agency's so this is not the first time.

I would of understood if someone was ill or an emergency but no apologies no explanation nothing just this.

I would have given up too, that sounds ridiculous. Messing you around completely.

Are you on benefits, OP? If so, be careful you don't get sanctioned.
