To not believe women spend 55 minutes looking in the mirror every day

Story in the Daily Fart today that research says this.

I reckon I look in the mirror for 5 minutes to do my make up and a couple more times for a moment after eating to check theirs no cheese on my face .

I'm not convinced I spent that much time looking in the mirror the day I got married (did my own hair and make up) let alone on a normal bog-standard day.

Just 5 minutes in the morning before leaving the house/encountering other people surely - to make sure there is no sleepy dust in eyes, toothpaste on chops, bits in teeth, bogeys hanging from nose, wild witch hairs sprouting from chin etc. Stroke on some mascara, dust on a little powder, make sure hair isn't doing anything too bonkers. And we're done.

If going out somewhere nice/posh (maybe half a dozen times a year if you're me) then maybe an extra 30 minutes that evening of staring into the mirror to have really good hair and make up.

55 minutes every single day though?

Has anyone ever been part of the surveys that find all this information?
I once took part in one to find out how many people 18-25 knew the name of the PM and their local MP.
I got paid £4 and free products for DD and I to do a product test on Fruit Shoots Grin

kelpeed - that must have driven you nuts, but also, that poor flatmate. Just think what useful things she could have done in that time instead e.g. sleep, eat, exercise, practice the piano, learn Mandarin, headstands, food prep, yoga, work etc. I wonder if she maintained it during the early years of motherhood. I imagine breastfeeding at 6am with a hairdryer in one hand is a challenge.

About 30 seconds while I pluck my eyebrows. Then if I can grab it, about 3 minutes to stick some concealer under my eyes while the 3yo blushers himself.

You watch though, next week the same rag will have sadface article about how rushed mums are they never get to look in the mirror and are consequently A RIGHT MESS prompting Katie Slopkins to write about how we don't look after ourselves.

I wonder how much time men spend in front of a mirror on a daily basis? Other than for shaving… Do we think that they neglect themselves? I still don't get why women feel they have to look anything other than themselves when they might be seen by other humans. No-one expects us to pop on a Venetian ball mask as we leave the house for work or the school run or to walk the dog. Maybe someone should invent a quick 'public face' mask for all busy people to slip over their heads in the morning as they rush out of the door. Then the mirror would be redundant.
