To ask you to say something nice?

I resolved to say all the nice things I thought. So if I see a woman with an immaculate blow dry or fab jumper, instead of being shy, I tell her she looks ace.

So if you think 'oh, that's a cool thing' over the next few days, complimenting the person out loud would be a lovely thing to do, wouldn't it?

I do like to see a smiley person.

What did you last compliment someone on? :)

I do this too! I love the way you see a woman walk off after you've said you like her dress or whatever and you can see just in the way she's walking that she's all chuffed and internally beaming.

I agree HappySeven it's great to get a bit of feedback that you were appreciated :)

I do this as habit now after 8 years livin in virginia. People here are free with compliments and niceties... I used to get sick of the endless compliments about my children... Now I am much more relaxed about talking to strangers in check out queues, telling them if they look great or have a pretty necklace or something. It had been good for me - I stopped feeling awkward and assuming all talkative strangers were dodgy.

I told a colleague today that I really liked his coat. He looked very smart.

While waiting in a shop queue recently, my lo (2 months) started screaming and was not for calming down. A wondedful lady told me she thinks the sound of a baby is lovely and she loves to hear them, even if they are crying. She said 'some people don't like it', making the grumpy man who kept glowering at us look away. She made my day!

I emailed a colleague's line manager to let him know what a great job colleague had done on a project for me.
