Or was this an odd boob experience in Debenhams?

Went to Debenhams today to buy new non nursing bras (exciting!), decided I'd get measured as boobs very different post ds. Some difficulty finding someone who could do it, and she then looked very unimpressed, rolling eyes and announcing that she would go on her break as soon as she had finished. She then measured my rib cage and announced I was a 28 but they didn't have 28s so I'd have to have a 30. She didn't measure boobs and disappeared telling me she was going to find bras. I kind of wanted to find my own bras but just went with it. She then came back in with 3 34Cs (Apparently she hoped they'd fit) and stood in the cubicle with me whilst I tried them on, then spent lots of time trying to physically force my boobs into bras that clearly didn't fit. In the end I stopped her and asked her to leave (politely) and made a sharp exit myself, braless! Is it me or is this not an ideal bra experience and does anyone know anywhere good!

Just to warn you though, I was in a Bravissimo changing room the other day and could overhear a bra fitting going on next door. The fitter several times referred to the customer's breasts as "boobies".

As in "Now just lean forward so your boobies fall into the bra."

I think I would have run away.

I would complain. That type of service is worse than useless. No point in giving you my recommendation as I'm not in the UK, but my own bra fitting experiences were with ladies who were professional in their approach, and knew what they were doing, left me to try on, then returned to check, and were very helpful with advice.
I did try Marks once, but while the lady was pleasant, she didn't have a clue, in my opinion.

Bravissimo is the only place I have ever gotten a decent bra fitting in my life. Worth the money, IMO.

we go to M&S they are brilliant in my area but we went out of area once and not so good experience we were trying to find white bras for my teen daughter (for school) they insisted she try on "pretty" ones (clearly visible under blouse which is not what she wants) they were over padded too my daughter hated them we came away with none

Bravissimo - their site also has a great thing showing you how to measure yourself. Bras can differ across shops and styles as well, and you may find you need a couple of sizes - especially if you fluctuate 2 cup sizes at different times of the month like I do!
I would complain though, they shouldn't offer the service if people aren't qualified.

I worked for a mastectomy bra company once, an M&S lady had said a woman was 38D - when her poor son (who'd bee DIYing her bras to make them fit!) told me her measurements it turned out she was a 42F!

Got to be bravissimo!

We've never had a good debenhams experience. Bought a few self fitted in the sale but the constant -you've not booked......the fitters off sick ( when we had booked).......it's too busy to open the changing room (wtf!) was just a pain!

kaymondo · 24/02/2014 23:13

Bravissimo every time!

RaspberryRuffle · 24/02/2014 23:36

Bravissimo also do tops and dresses to fit women who are curvy up top. m&s said I was a 34dd, I had double boon effect, went to Bravissimo, got me some 28h bras. The covent garden store is good. They do allow you to return if the bras they fitted are not right.

RaspberryRuffle · 24/02/2014 23:37

Oops! I meant double boob. It was not a boon at all.
