My washing machine decided to give up the ghost this morning so I have to come to the launderettes. its dingy and noisy and is sucking up my will to live.

Doea anyone else find this and I am being unreasonable to want to sit in the corner and give up on clean clothes?

YABU. Post Offices are the most depressing places on earth. Launderettes are just boring.

My nana used to take me with her when I visited when I was little Limited, it was mildly entertaining then as I used to be allowed to dance on top of any of the washers no one was using and sorry for making you cry.

Mine is unattended and cold because someone decided smashing a hole in the window was a great idea. I want all your launderettes! I want free wifi, and access to coffee.

And you're not wrong about the creepy old men Wrong, as I was taking my clothing out of the dryer, and folding it nicely I might add otherwise it wouldn't all fit back in the bag an older 'gentleman' walked up to the dryer next to mine and just stood there watching me fold my knickers, he had no washing in the machine (it wasn't on and was empty) but he just kept standing there watching me. [shudder]

And thanks HadABadDay for the note about renting, might have to look into that, don't want to give creepy guys a peek at my undies every week until I can buy a new washing machine.

Our local one is quite entertaining.

I am always surprised though by people who seem quite at home flashing their grubby (after its been washed) laundry

I like them.
Before we got our washing machine- I used to time my laundrette trips for Jeremy Kyle time.
The laundrette ladies would stop what they were doing- offer everyone a cup of tea and a biscuit and we'd all watch Jeremy Kyle and comment ignorantly on other peoples troubles Grin
I miss it now

YABU. I did all my university reading in the launderette.
Nice and warm and quiet. Better than the library!

We haven't got one anymore :(

Can't say I loved or hated it - but it was useful for duvets. Also our local hospital used to do a duvets washing service, but that's gone too now. :( :(

I love them I think it is the hot washing powder smell brings me back to my mums twin tub not that i use them often last time was years ago when the machine broke although I do use the campsite ones I find them quite peaceful Blush

I used one when we were on holiday recently and was gobsmacked at how much a service wash was. It was £15 for about 1/2 a bin bag, washed/dried/folded.

I haven't sat in one since I was a student. I used to quite like it because it was warm and our flat was always freezing! They are quite strange places though.

Sadly none near us for many miles. I am another one who loves the smell and warmth but has been said further up I would perhaps not be as keen if I had to use one a few times a week. I would love to hand over a massive bag of washing and collect it all washed, dried and folded up later on that day.
