To say it's me or the TV?

Our TV broke recently but as it was within a 5 year warranty period the retailer had to replace it as they couldn't repair it. Rather than replacing it for the same size my DH used the opportunity to go from a 37 inch to a 47 inch TV! This TV has taken over the whole room, which I think is a hideous monstrosity.

Now, my DH is a good man and father and pulls his weight with the home etc but this really has got to me. I really didn't have a voice in the matter and the deal was done. So, when he asked me to help in in with the box, which needed 3 people to manhandle, I asked him to take it back which he's refused because it was a great deal.

How do I handle this? AIBU to demand it's me or the TV!? I could put him on 6 months' silence treatment... Or, cut the plug off.... Angry

Fantissue, in most other circumstances an extra 10 inches would be welcome Blush but this isn't!

PiperRose lol!

I'd be cross at the financial aspect, making the assumption that extra had to be paid to up-size? I'd have expected a discussion about the purchase of a large(!) household item.

Well, you want a smaller tv and he wants a larger tv. What makes you think that your want should override his?

Linus33 · 23/02/2014 15:48

I've no right to expect a smaller TV and he a big one and there was a top-up amount required to buy said TV. But, I didn't realise actually how big 57 inches is in reality! My main gripe is that despite me saying I wasn't happy he proceeded anyway. As you've probably clocked by this thread, this isn't the first time. Yes my shape of the world is very different to his tech-lust one!

However, my faith in mankind might have been restored a little since we've agreed to leave the fire surround alone. Move the TV so it's a little less in your face. Sell the 90 inch projector and screen (anyone want one?).

I'm still pissed at him but at least he's trying. Oh, and I might just get a redecoration project out him too!

Yes huge TV's are ugly looking monstrosities but yab -a little- u here for expecting your own wants to be considered but not his.

Yes to milking it though and turning it into your advantage - like the redecorating :)

In your shoes, I would leave.

Cancel sky subscription, that'll sort it out, absolutely nothing to watch on freeview! Grin

A 90" projector screen and a 47" TV? You must feel like a security guard!

I hate huge screens shoehorned into small or average sized rooms. I think it looks tacky.

YANBU.
