I have a heavy cold, temperature and generally feel like shit.
I am lying in bed and I swear my heart is missing beats.
I can hear my heart . . . dum dum dum. . . . . . . . dum dum dum . . . . ..
I have checked my wrist and can feel it beats a few times, between 3 and 10 beats, then misses.

Is it safe to sleep?
I have a young DD and am here alone with DD.

This might just be an ectopic beat that perhaps you have never noticed before, its a normal variant especially in young- ish people.

It sounds as if you are having palpitations due to your virus which is common. Dd and I have often had them. However, I'm not a Dr and think that you should get them checked out for your own reassurance. Hope you feel better soon.

My chest feels funny when it happens, like my while body is momentarily pausing although I can still move IYSWIM.
A bit like when you hold your breath, you can still function. oh I don't know it's hard to explain.
Anyway, suffice to say I am still here. Grin
Woke up feeling a bit better for the first time in almost a week.
Now if I could just decongest my ears and nose and get rid of this head cold I'd be all ready for work again tomorrow. Grin
I can breathe ok,thankful for giving up smoking even more now but still have a painful cough, although more coughing fits than constant coughs.

I gave up smoking ijn July and I have heart palpitations for no apparent reason. I'm not prone to anxiety and I wondered if the two were connected. Either that or the menopause.

StealthPolarBear · 23/02/2014 09:59

OP you do sound anxious - have you seen your GP?
Also, do you have a will? Can you set something up so you know who would be looking after DD if you weren't around, then that would be done. I'm not sure about the legal aspect of it, but could you talk to a trusted friend or family member about staying involved in your DD's life.
And then forget all about it and get on with living to 104!

Apologies to any 103 1/2 year olds I have now offended :o

I tend to focus too much on my breathing. Leaving my radio on low helps.
