I've fed her, winded her and cuddled her for over an hour. Come on DD, it's time to sleep!

imissredwine i saw reference to the "walking dead" in another thread- i assume that refers to people feeding babies?!

Apparentlychilled · 22/02/2014 05:29

Yep, 2hr 45 is pretty good in absolute terms but not brilliant when it's all the sleep I've had since 11.30!

jenecho - thanks for tip re wind. Pretty sure it's not wind as DD1 had horrid colic and we spent a lot of time getting wind up, thanks to infacol. DS was better but DD2 seems to get her wind up quite easily so far, thank god.

I feel your pain.

My 7 week old is currently napping on my shoulder. I have had an hours sleep since yesterday.

He's slept quite well - it's just me that can't sleep over the sound of him breathing/grunting/snuffling.

Can't put him in own room like I did with DD as he was 14 weeks premature and I don't trust the little toad! Hope you managed to get some more sleep xxx

Oh yes, gripe water is our friend too!

Baby still sleeping but toddler now up and raring to go!
Last night was good though. 4 blocks if sleep adding up to over 6 hours (I think). Can live with that. Grin

Apparentlychilled · 22/02/2014 08:05

Oh Rock - poor you, you must be so tired!

Pidgy - I always thought 5 hrs in total was the magic no, below which I'd cry if I had to do anything.

It ended up not too bad- 90 mins sleep before 11,30, then nearly 3 hr chunk then anor 90 mins. So nearly 6hrs in total.

I would go dummy all the way. You can get some that come in their own little case that can be sterilised in the microwave. My three were all really sucky babies and settled with a dummy from really early on. Ds3 was given his in SCBU.

BrianButterfield · 22/02/2014 08:30

It could have been the curry - spicy food is the only thing I've avoided while BFing after one awful night with each DC after eating things with chilli in.

paxtecum · 22/02/2014 08:34

Maybe avoid spicy food for a while.

Apparentlychilled · 22/02/2014 08:39

Yep, curries are off the menu for a while- I dot fancy a night like that again! W DD1 I didn't eat leeks the whole time I bf her after a similarly bad night!

And I'm going to sterilise dummies today!

Pidgy · 22/02/2014 20:04

Oh no, just waiting for our curry to be delivered!! Hope that doesn't mean a bad night!!

Hopefully the glass of wine will cancel it out! I'm feeling sleepy already anyhow!

apoarently I agree on the 5 hours. Anything less and I want to cry and sometimes do.

cerealqueen · 22/02/2014 20:14

White noise - app or the hoover.

Dummy - I never use done but wish I had, as had a year of awful sleep.

Rocking should still work too, mine used to like me swaying in a figure of 8.

Good luck!

Apparentlychilled · 22/02/2014 22:50

DH is currently swaying w her in his arms downstairs while I climb into bed. Hopefully he gets the wailing tonight [evil wife]!

YANBU to wish she'd go to sleep, of course not! She is only 4 weeks old though, so don't expect her to comply Wink
