To think that my GP is shit!

My DD2 has always been hard work, very fractious, refluxy, not able to be put down, rashes and what looks like an eye infection...

She's been to the GP a lot. At one point I think I was going once a week...

Just use cotton wool, use gaviscon, now try ranitidine, now have this special milk...

All still bad.

I've posted before about her face, it looks absolutely awful, to the point that I've stopped taking her to baby group and Gymboree because people look at her funny.

They said ringworm, treated it, didn't go away.

They said impetigo, treated it, didn't go away.

They said eczema, treated it, didn't go away.

It's got worse... I asked if it could be an allergy to dairy as they first thought (she's on Nutrimigen formula now, and we're weaning her dairy free) and maybe we've missed something else she's allergic to as it looks exactly like my friends DD who has a dairy and wheat allergy...

They said 'try this cream for 2 weeks and come back and if its not better, we'll refer you.'

Today is 2 weeks, it's not better, if anything, it's worse. Her eye is STILL weeping too (almost 8 months of this!!) and I went back to the GP expecting something to be done.

Nope. 'Try the cream for TWO MORE MONTHS, then come back, and just use cotton wool on her eye.'

Like I've already been doing, and she's miserable. (As am I!!)

My GP is clearly a sadistic wanker.

My DS had a weepy eye and was quite rashy. GP gave all the creams for treating dry skin, eczema. We had to have the fucidin as his skin became very inflamed and were told infected eczema.
DS was 8 months old when our dog died, his skin cleared up almost immediately and has been lovely ever since. He had blood tests for allergies when he was 3 and he tested positive for peanuts and dogs.
It was the dog allergy all along.

Hmm... We do have a dog Confused

I've just called the GP and complained to the practice manager and apparently I'll get a call back on Monday.

Dear OP,
This sounds very upsetting. I don't think taking her to A&E is the best way to approach this. I would approach the surgery and ask for a formal meeting with the senior partner and the practice manager. Explain your concerns about your DD, explain that you don't feel you have been listened to/ taken seriously. If possible write down a timeline of first this was tried, then this, then this, how long do we wait/ how bad does it have to get before we get a referral to a specialist? If possible take someone with you to advocate for you if you find yourself being talked down. If this approach isn't successful then tell them that you will find another GP surgery that can respond to the needs of patients. Good luck x

Ah, x post. Good luck OP

Go in for an appointment and be clear you're not leaving without a referral. Use some key phrases repeatedly, I would suggest "we've been quite patient enough" and "we've had enough one last tries, now I want a referral"

Yousaywhaat
I don't think it is.
my child was 'dying' words from a hcp as the gp was doing nothing. I would rather a child be seen properly and be given the appropriate medication if needed than fighting continously with a gp who wont do fuck all.

This isnt a new problem that op is dealing with its an ongoing problem and they've tried the gp. Only a paed will do something to help.

Good luck op, you've been given good advice just wanted to say do take dd to groups etc, only a nasty sod would judge your dd. I hope you get taken seriously.
