"Women's achievements in sport are incredibly underreported, this is so obvious it's uncontested."
Well I'll contest it. It depends what you mean by "underreported". I would say that what is reported is a reflection of the level of interest shown in that activity. What you are really complaining about is that people are simply not that interested in women's achievements, rather than the reporting of it. But equally, there are lots of sports full stop that don't get that much coverage. I doubt many people are aware that England has 4 men and 3 women ranked in the top 10 in squash. I'd like more coverage of squash because it is something that interests me, but clearly the interest isn't there or it would be reported on more.
I don't believe there is some grand conspiracy to put women's sport down. The opposite in fact. I'm sure the likes of Sky Sports would love it if they had loads more people watching the women's ashes coverage as it would generate them more revenue. Businesses are there to make money and if they could do so out of women's sport they would be.
In terms of the winter olympic coverage, there has been easily as much for the women as the men. If not more. There have been more British women in with a chance and winning medals, and it certainly doesn't feel like that's been underreported.
