To ask whoever it is throwing cigarette buts over our fence to stop it.

There are several. Landed on and another Wendy house. Its annoying and not what I want to clean up or let my toddlers pick up when playing!

I was sure my neighbour's teenage ds and his friends were doing this, so I lurked in the kitchen in the dark one night, when they were smoking outside, and when I saw a still-glowing fag end come over the fence, I erupted out of the door to bollock them. I told them that I would tell my neighbour if it happened again, and it stopped for a while.

It did start again, and, to my shame, I didn't go and tell his mum, but I did collect the fag ends and dump them back over the fence, by their back doorstep, so hopefully he got a row for leaving them there!

The woman who lived above us would throw her fag buts out the window and onto our doorstep and the path infront. One night she had mates round and the next morning our doorstep was covered in them. DP put them in a bowl then emptied them on to her doorstep

It doesn't stop her but it felt good! thank fuck she moved

Well if the butt wasn't out properly then your Wendy house could possibly catch alight.....

Surely the mother would have been apologetic even if it was her daughter's friends. Sounds to me like the mum herself is the smoker, either given up and started smoking again, or other people in the house don't know she is a smoker and she's trying to keep it a secret.

Definitely return butts to that house if you are certain they aren't coming from anywhere else, including anyone else living in your house.
