To the point where I really don't want any affection from DP cos I feel so unattractive (and usually am after pre-menstrual spots & general run-down feeling).

YANBU!

CaptainHammer · 17/02/2014 11:29

sparechange I do, constipated 2-4 days before and then runs day 1-3 of period. Yuck.

Latara · 17/02/2014 11:34

Mine have got worse since coming off the Pill (I was very overweight so worried about thrombosis).

3 - 4 weeks apart; depression & suicidal thoughts & agitation; (normal for me at times but a lot worse during PMT time); bad cramps causing faintness & loose bowels & even vomiting; heavy bleeding being the main problems.

I also get very tired despite being on iron tablets.

I wish I could spend the week in bed when I have a period but obviously that's not practical with work and life!

uc · 17/02/2014 11:40

Also a fan of cerazette. No periods, no PMT (previously DP and I were on the verge of living apart every 4th weekend!!), no cramps. Nothing. It is great.

LimitedEditionLady · 17/02/2014 12:21

I feel drained, ill, headachey,my boobies hurt,I have crippling bend over and say ohhhhh pains in the morning,I get upset about thongs id just shrug at on a normal week,I actually dont want to eat because I feel sickly,my back hurts the week before...Im a wreck.I dont even want to go out.

MyBaby1day · 18/02/2014 02:04

YANBU, I must admit it's one thing in my life I am really struggling with. Men don't know they're born! Angry. I hate that feeling before it too but it's the pain, the bloomin pains from hell when it does come that gets me!. I have an illness too and only weigh 5 stones so suffer a lot with them. Have you tried Evening Primrose Oil?. I am thinking of it.

steff13 · 18/02/2014 02:08

I get horrible cramps, intestinal upset, flooding. It's the worst. I'm on Zoloft for PMDD, so my moods are not as bad as they once were, but I'm still emotional.

whitesugar · 18/02/2014 02:23

OP I feel for you. I am strangely glad to hear there are others out there. I am 48 and have always had regular normal periods until now. No joke but if anyone saw what I woke up to on Saturday morning they would have called in the murder investigation team. I have also developed the strangest pain down my left leg the day before my period starts. It is agony and in work on Friday I could hardly move and pain killers didn't work. I was also freezing cold. I spent all weekend and today looking like I had my face bashed in and my hair had somehow started to look like a square shape. To top it all my DD aged 17 and her friends all seem to have very irregular periods which has started me on this irregular pattern. I have also started getting the runs which incidentally I had put down to having a critical illness so I am relieved to hear that this is common. I have also eaten a month's food intake in 3 days so can't fit into my clothes. Facing people and having to try to act normal is wearing me out. I am going to keep an eye on this because if it gets any worse I am going to need some decent drugs.

God I love MN. I was just looking for a thread like this.

I've been having suicidal thoughts today and yesterday. Not suicidal in a way of doing something about it but totally hopeless and awful. This has never happened before. My skin is crazy, I feel depressed, very tired and worn down. My house and the kids (who are lovely but DD is now 3 and having epic tantrums) are sending me spare.

I feel totally unlike myself and just want my equilibrium back.

I'm convinced it's a combination of hormones and lack of sleep - DS has been ill and not slept through the night in 2 weeks now, my iron stores are low (I'm on iron to combat this), I've been ill too, DD has been unbelievably cranky, stroppy and shouty, I'e let the house get horribly messy and I realised I've just ovulated two days ago. Ovulation means hormone overload and PMS for me.

I've only had 1 period since having DS 15 months ago. This will be my second. Like when I had DD my hormones were bonkers for a few months.

Never let this low before though.

Having said all that I'm feeling far better this afternoon and more like myself even if there is a dark cloud in the sky :)

YANBU at all.
I'm 36 and I feel really weepy, irritable, anxious and tired 3/4 days before my period. It's due in a couple of days now and I felt like crying for no reason all day yesterday. Also my appetite goes through the roof. Last night I ate chocolate cake with cream, a creme caramel, boiled egg with cheese and a bowl of cereal...all on top of my dinner. I'm shouty at my DH and also at the DCs which then I feel really teary about as I feel bad for the shouting.
But on the plus side, I feel very good, sexy, happy and carefree by about day 3 or 4 of my cycle and it lasts till I ovulate around day 14. So I have about 10 days of feeling great. After ovulation things start going downhill, but OKish till a few days before my period.

The mooncup has changed my life though. Since the DCs my periods have been very heavy, and sanpro needed changing constantly. But now I use a mooncup with a pad on day 1 to catch any leaks, and then just the mooncup. It's been amazing.

I have also developed the strangest pain down my left leg the day before my period starts.

OMG! I get this on the first day of my period. Cramps are worse that day too, but only on left side!

My periods have gone from being pill controlled 28 day cycles, medium flow to post sterilized 22day cycle blood baths!

Dh said he gets a week of lovely me
A week of grumpy, unbearable, really-wishes-he-could-leave-home for a week me
and a week of my period!!

Yup, sounds about right.

But he is fab though & brings me lots of tea so I think I sometimes might overdo the sympathy thing

LimitedEditionLady · 18/02/2014 11:51

Does anyone struggle to sleep?

LimitedEditionLady

YES!! And dh said I am really restless when I am asleep!

steff13 · 18/02/2014 13:33

I have hot flashes when I'm trying to sleep during that time of the month (actually THIS time of the month). I wake up uncomfortable and sweaty. :(

kotinka I've never used a mooncup, but I've used a Diva Cup, and it stays in fine. It is quite a bit larger than a tampon.

I get really weepy, too.

LimitedEditionLady · 18/02/2014 13:57

Mines kind of just never getting off to sleep like my mind wont settle?

Pixel · 18/02/2014 20:05

Yanbu, it's not called the curse for nothing.

I'm lucky in that I don't get a lot of period pain, but I do get toothache for a couple of days before, also I'm very clumsy and drop things all the time.

mummymeister · 18/02/2014 20:11

go and read the menopause/peri menopause threads before you wish it was you OP. can't lose weight as easily as I used to, thinning hair, aching joints, dry eyes, constipation, still the same depression once a month only now no periods, feeling like I am invisible now I am the wrong side of 50. every age of womanhood brings its "joys" what I wouldn't do to have my periods back and ditch the other symptoms.

GobbysMum · 18/02/2014 20:28

Does anyone else get a sore throat the day before? I get everything else too, moods, cramps, headache ...
