Because they seem unable to understand exactly what someone has said, they interpret sentences differently and they seem to say posters have said something which the poster clearly hasn't.

There does seem to be a wilful lack of comprehension of an OP at times and a refusal to read anything else the OP posts. Some posters are so entrenched in their view they just refuse to alter their perception no matter how often the OP or other posters try to.

One thread that sticks in my mind was where an OP was going to a wedding and was expecting to spend two nights at the hotel with her DP and the groom was altering the plans. OP admitted she jumped the gun and her DP was not planning on changing their plans to spend both nights at the hotel together. However, the OP mentioned that she would be leaving their newborn with her parents to attend said wedding and no matter how many times the OP said the post was not about her decision to leave her child with her parents, or that the matter with her DP had been resolved, still posters wanted her flayed alive and felt it was their duty to point out to the OP that she had the parenting skills of King Herod.
