To put this sign in my window

There is (I am assuming its the same people) a group of people who seem to take pleasure in randomly banging loudly on peoples windows as they pass. (No front gardens).

It frightens the life out of me every time and they have just woken my 3 month old up, and i am shaking like a sh*ting dog. By the time i get up to have a look they're out of sight though.

WIBU to put a notice in the window reading "You ignorant cunts, i have a 3 month old baby, grow up and find an adult way to pass the time, you fucking wasters, i'm going to let my dog out next time and watch him rip your legs off"

I am fairly sure they are adults given the times (Aways late at night, Pub chuck out time?) and the voices i sometimes hear ("ya fuckin' nob'ed") sound like adult women.

(Note; My dog is not vicious and if i opened the door he would shit his pants and look at me as though to say "It's raining, sort it out yourself woman, i'm off for a kip", and i'm not really in the habit of doing that, I just don't understand the need for banging loudly on peoples windows).

If you ring 101 and report it as antisocial behaviour, which it clearly is, every time it happens. We did this on our road ( me and the neighbours) and we are now on a special antisocial behaviour list which means we get more regular police patrols. Seems to have calmed down loads since we did it but the noisy people always seem to come in waves so who knows. If you write the note they will just see ou as a target and do it more.

A booby trap might be better...

Remind me never to piss you off, Birds. Grin

AlpacaLypse · 16/02/2014 12:35

We've got a spring in our cellar thanks to the exceptionally high water table at the moment, which is being pumped out through a hose over the pavement into the gutter. Unfortunately we're also on the way home from the town centre pubs, and last night some dickheads posted the end of the hose through the letter box.

I had some success a few years ago, when my windowsill was popular for late night sitting down long boozy conversations, with an automatic window box waterer. It was worth going downstairs and turning on the over-ride, they got nicely soaked and stopped doing it.

That wouldn't work on the passing bang on the window lot though.

I would report to 101 as Birds suggests, the pub landlord's licence will be at risk if he continues to create rowdy customers.

And I'm liking the disgusting substance on your windows to cover their hands Smile

alpaca Shock what vandals!

AgentZigzag · 16/02/2014 12:54

I was imagining the burn as they went for a piss up against someone else's doorstep ISeeYou, punishment for two crimes for the price of one Grin

AgentZigzag · 16/02/2014 12:56

Angry for you alpaca, as if you hadn't got enough to stress about having to pump the water out in the first place.

cjel · 16/02/2014 12:57

Alpaca - I hope there isn't too much extra damagex

LowCloudsForming · 16/02/2014 12:59

Really sticky coloured glue on the window?

The responses have cheered me up haha :)

Its a shitty area in general if i'm honest. My neighbours put me on edge all summer too letting their three and four year olds roam arund the streets. I am convinced one is going to be killed - I've seen them as far as the main road which is about half a mile down the road alone.

Also at the end of the road there is a path into the woods - There are 70ft drops into streams. An adult would be very lucky to survive a fall down one nevermind a 3/4 year old and the parents are no where to be seen when they're roaming around.

There is a school literally across the road so it gets busy with traffic too.

My mum has had to slam her breaks on several times because ones just wandered out in front of her car!

I've got a 4 YO and the idea of her out roaming on her own is terrifying Shock

Don't people stop the 3/4 YOs if they see them out on their own? I'd be calling the police.

AlpacaLypse · 16/02/2014 13:20

Thanks for the sympathy guys, the carpet had never really recovered from the dribbling ribena stage of the dds lives, in fact being completely soaked has probably improved it! I will pass your kind words onto dd2, who was the one who was woken by the sound of the waterfall and went down and dealt with it - resourceful girl!

I'm very aware that I'm so lucky to only have to deal with nice clean spring water, the cottages and cafe down by the river at the bottom of our lane had an explosive foul sewage crisis yesterday, at least I don't have poos and bogroll and tampons bobbing about on my floors.

Flock how difficult would it be for you to move? It doesn't sound like it's the place you want as your Forever Home!

Mia4 · 16/02/2014 13:30

If you really want to be evil OP, get some poisoned ivy and arrange it creeping up your window...

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 16/02/2014 14:27

Hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaa

^ that's me laughing at the suggestion that the police might be interested.

I lived with this and worse for years. Police were completely uninterested, even when the bastards shoved lit newspapers through my letterbox.

We moved.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 16/02/2014 14:46

agree with Unexpected

We had to move too due to things happening at our house. Nothing as bad as lit newspapers, but enough to make me agoraphobic and unable to relax when at home especially when there was any kind of activity outside (even when nothing bad was happening, I was still waiting for it to happen)

Also agree do not under any circumstances put a notice up, as others have said it will make it worse.

foslady · 16/02/2014 14:53

Pcso came when I reported this and had stern words with youth club ans patrolled.

FutTheShuckUp · 16/02/2014 15:33

Yes the police would be interested. It's anti social behaviour. I'm sorry your experience wasn't positive unexpected but you can't tar all forces with one brush

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 16/02/2014 16:02

Fut (great nn btw) I would be delighted to be proved wrong but there are too many stories on MN and in the media as a whole to change my opinion just now.

Out of 100 calls made to 101 about this sort of behaviour I would put money on 99 of them being politely ignored.

My friends in various police forces in England and Scotland would agree, saying that they just don't have the resources. I'm not saying they are willfully neglectful of ASB well, not often
