AIBU to have thought that conceiving dc2 should have been easy:-(

We conceived dc1 easily and now he is 13 months would love another.

We've been trying since he was 6 months but no joy yet

I really thought it would happen quickly.

I'm 34 dh is 39, should we be visiting the GP?

Bit of a crap AIBU I know but am sure there will be some words of wisdom

I have a friend who got pregnant with dc1 AT 18. Had IVF and had DC2 6 years later. When DC2 was 2 months old she fell pregnant with DC3.

Fertility is a very odd thing! I really would not stress after 6-7 months at a time when your body is only just returning to normal.

Having had one child the tests that they will be willing to do on your DH will be extremely limited (if they are willing to do any). My doc was pretty good. We spoke to them after 10 months, their rule is 12 months but at 10 months they agreed to start putting things in the system in terms of testing me (no tests for DH as he had already had a child). I never made it as far as the actual tests myself though - I was pregnant the next month!

I certainly felt the same. With dd I came off the pill just after xmas then was pregnant by February. Decided when she was 2 to try for another baby. Two years later and 3mcs I really didn't think it would happen at all. Ds has just turned one. I feel very blessed.

I conceived dd first month of trying and then had x2 mc 1 ectopic before falling pregnant with dc2 I'm now 39 weeks!
Dd is 2 (3 in May) and we were trying from when she was about 8 months.
I thought I'd fall straight away and must admit it was a shock when it took so long with much sadness along the way.

Took 2 months to conceive DD and one month to conceive DC2 whom I unfortunately miscarried. It then took almost a year to conceive again as my cycles became irregular after the MC. I visited my GP after 6 months & they agree to send DH & I to the fertility centre at our hospital. The consultant there prescribed clomid as my cycles had become so irregular but amazingly I fell pregnant before starting the first course!

If you're worried seek advice. My GP was fab and didn't say "well, you've only been trying 6 months".
