To find Fiona Bruce intensely annoying as a newsreader?

I mean really, her head bobs around, ducking left and right with the odd shoulder dip thrown in. I spend time analysing her and forget what she's saying.

Fucking hell Fiona, rein it in, it's ANNOYING.

Less is more, and all that.

I do like Huw the best.

And breathe.

Catriona shearer- never sure what to make of her. I suspect I have been missing the goth- meter, or maybe it's because she seems quite normal and nice. I also like Fiona Bruce except for the jolly hockey sticks type shenanigans. I always feel a lot of female new readers are chosen as the wet dream of some public school boy- they mostly seem to have that jolly hockey sticks stuff going on.

She's too dramatic, with all the 'I can't believe what I'm reading!' head shaking and eyebrow raising. I want her to just read it, I don't need to know what she thinks, she's just providing information.

^Shatner - that's exactly how I feel. She should be just informing us in an impartial way. Either she thinks she's the 'modern, human' face of news reading or she's egotistical and wants to make it about her.

Oh if we are talking blokes then Clive Myrie is fabulous. Not only is he quite easy on the eye but also has a brilliant look to camera that he always does just after a report about something. It is a slight eyebrow-raise and pause that says "Well there you go. The word is quite mad." Then he gets on with the next bit. Just love it every time!

World not word!

I love Fiona - she's like the very serious, supremely capable Head Girl you knew could be relied to sort out any problem in a calm, measured and fair way. I may have a bit of a crush on her.

Catriona Shearer otoh is irritating in the extreme - that grating Shotts accent and the "bye for nooo-oowwwwwwww" at the end of her 'commentary' makes my left eye twitch. Who does she know in BBC Scoa'lan, I wonder?

honed in right on this thread this morning op .
i had a sudden wtf is she on moment whilst watching the evening news last night too.

Fiona is just as irritating on the antiques thing. She acts like she's solely responsible for discovering all those eleventy billion pound jugs and potties.

Have you noticed her ginormous hands? And, shallow though I may seem, does she never buy any new jackets? That black woolly one with the red horizontal flicky bits went out of fashion when Mrs T was wearing the tiebow blouses.

Natasha Plinkyplonk gave me the rage as well. I was always concerned her ginormous head would topple off her teeny tiny shoulders.

Sophie Rayworth with her stiff neck movements do my head in as well.

I may spend longer screaming at the screen than listening to world events.......

I have, however, slept in John Hammond's bed. it doesn't matter that it was at university and he had gone home for the weekend and we were just staying with his flatmates, does it?

frostyfingers · 15/02/2014 10:13

I read a comment saying that she didn't read the news she acted it - absolutely spot on IMO.

SwimmingClose · 15/02/2014 11:04

I never watch the news if I can help it. Read the papers / go online instead.

The gloating, excitable newsreaders and reporters can just be awful.

I suppose its not PC, but I do find a lot of female newsreader sometimes distracting - overly made-up, revealing tops, jewellery, etc. Whereas the men all wear formal long-sleeves shirts and jackets.
