to think if DPD can tell you when your parcel will be here to the hour, other companies should aim for that as well

Expecting important delivery. Yesterday DPD emailed me with a time slot.
It was delayed so that was emailed through with the new slot.

Today - well a different company. It's sometime.
I'd happily pay the extra to use DPD.
Shouldn't companies aspire to match that level of service?

The DPD delivery driver told me a while back that they have far fewer missed deliveries since they introduced timed delivery slots and real-time tracking.

I love DPD

The text says 'your parcel will be delivered by Jonathan between 12.43 and 13.43' and sure enough - at 12.44 Jonathan's pulling up outside in his van Grin

Have name changed for this.
Having seen first hand the effects of this amazing service on the drivers and knowing the stress that they are under, I would never use this company.
They advertise jobs as 40 ish drops a day and fill the driver double that.
I know drivers who work 12 hours a day with an unpaid half hour break and are refused to have their hours reduced.
They have pushed drivers beyond their limits and then
dismissed them when they have been able to take the stress any longer.
I could go on but may out myself in rl.
Be kind to your driver and take a good look at their face, you will see the stress on it.

Thanks thetruth. I might actually see if I can chat to my lovely driver Stuart (to be fair he does always seem to have time to pass the day) and ask him how he finds it. One past delivery, he told me the town where he lives and where the depot is and I think he said he used to do another job but moved to DPD and really enjoys it.

He never seems as stressed as Dave my Postie (poor Dave :( ).

Dpd are brill my dad works for them

Rosa · 14/02/2014 15:00

Dpd kept saying. Jason will be with you in an hour. Alll very well but Jason and i were actually several thousand miles apart and the parcel was a gift going to my god daughter - however it was nice to be informed . I did feel concerned as I was also watching the weather and Jason was going west into the storm which looked not very nice.

Thank you thetruthisoutthere789, I honestly never had any idea :(

I suspect if you look at the realities of many jobs where customer service is important that there are issues like that.

Teaching for example.

My DPD driver is actually self-employed but has a contract with DPD, he seems to love his job to be honest, though I do live in a rural area so suspect that this makes a big difference as the population is much less so there will be less parcels to deliver anyway.

I agree with WingDefence that my Royal Mail posties seem under a lot more stress and I think it's criminal what has happened/is happening to Royal Mail.

DPD is great, definitely my favourite courier with Yodel at the bottom. Obviously there is a cost factor going on though.

This is an interesting poll - seems Royal Mail come top! Yodel is, unsurprisingly, far, far below anyone else. DPD not far off the top.
