I have a teenage son who is big for there age size 10 feet ECt but this man is about 40 I think someone is taking the piss here

Gets in the que for the hot 50 year old. My 50 yo OH doesn't get asked for i.d.....he's clearly feckless with the lift n luminate

YANBU, but then again I did come across a boy who was in Y7/8, but honestly looked about 18 - he had full facial hair, a good foot taller than his classmates and everything.

Either he was unusually old looking, or he was an asylum seeker who had lied about his age in order to avoid being sent back (not implausible as the kid appeared Afghan / similar, and there are many documented cases of this happening).

I find it extremely difficult to age people of a different ethnicity. I find that some ethnicities, particularly black skin, very difficult to put an age to. On a night out recently my friend invited another of her friends along. This woman was fifty and don't look a day over 25. I was . My colleague also has a son in law who is fifty and looks in his 30s. I also have an Asian friend who looks younger than her years.

He does look much older. He has presented his documents but obviously they can be faked so I wonder if further tests will be carried out. I don't know much about football so I don't know what reason he would have to lie. Would he not be allowed to play if he was older? (In a different group obviously.)

We'll if he really is 17 he's had a bloody hard paper round.

There is no medically accurate way of assessing someone's age. Bone density tests etc have all been discredited in the courts as they are based on western measures of development. Age assessments, for example of unaccompanied asylum seeking minors, are done in this country on a qualitative basis by social workers. The social workers analysis can be supplemented by medical evidence but not entirely informed by it.

Wow he really doesn't look 17! I'm laughing at the 50 year old. He's a relation of mine (outs self) can't believe that people think he's fit! And annoyed that I haven't got the young genes!

I have friends that have looked 40 odd since early 20s but I believe that's too much hard partying at the weekend...

If I had to guess I'd say 25-30.

The '17 year old' looks much, much older. But I do remember a friend's brother when we were teenagers that was constantly asked for ID everywhere he went, despite being well into his 30s. First time I met him I thought he was younger than my friend who would have been about 16 at the time.

I hope I look as fit as the 50 year old when I'm his age!
