To think that a lot of children's toys are plastic tat?

I took DD into a toy shop today for a look. She quite liked this dinosaur from Dinosaur Train. However it was £20 and looked really flimsy, as did a lot of the stuff. I bought her a Schleich dinosaur and Panda instead. Got them both for £10 which isn't particularly cheap but they are well made and will last a lot longer than that Dinosaur Train one would have.

Over the years dd has had many a plastic toy and several wooden toys.

The plastic is always played with most by every child who came by. The wooden ones are the ones left ime, hence try always remain lovely looking!

I guess it's just choosing the right plastic toy. Dd has had a lot of sylvanian families and they definitely last.

No point in spending more on nice looking wooden toys if it just ends up sitting there.

legoplayingmumsunite - This type of Brio train is the type DS1 has - Brio Train

A push along wooden one. The battery powered trains you linked to do look very plasticy, I didn't realise Brio did battery powered trains too!

Not that DS1 would care whether the trains themselves were wooden, plastic or metal so long as they fitted onto the wooden track.

Maybe I meant more that they aren't very robust rather than tat. DD's favourite toy is the 'phone' she got free with Peppa Pig magazine. She loves talking away using it.
