AIBU to get annoyed that yet another fun thread is fucked up by people arguing?

echt · 11/02/2014 10:26

YABU. This is AIBU. It does what it says on the tin.

ZingSweetApple · 11/02/2014 10:30

OP asked for thread titles, not arguing.

AIBU doesn't mean "let's fight"

so YABU

echt · 11/02/2014 10:35

The OP invited views. There are many post with what I would see as intemperate, generalised views of feminism, with no real examples, so yes, they will get taken on.

Grennie · 11/02/2014 10:36

Even when I wasnt a feminist, I still thought some women were wrong about their views and actions. Don't we all think about some people?

I do agree it is wrong to degrade women who don't agree with you, whether you are a feminist or not.

Personally I don't really care what underwear you wear, whether you wear make up, change your name on marriage, etc. Up to you. It won't stop me talking about the origin of these things as patriarchial and the messages they give out.

Grennie · 11/02/2014 10:37

And one thing you quickly learn on MN, is that you can't control how a thread will go.

echt · 11/02/2014 10:41

What Grennie said.

Although I do care that names are changed on marriage, I just STFU about in RL and wish the silly fuckers who allow their names to be taken, would accord me the same courtesy.

echt · 11/02/2014 10:42

I think I mean "accord".

echt · 11/02/2014 10:43

Bugger, autocorrect: afford.

TamerB · 11/02/2014 14:47

It won't stop me talking about the origin of these things as patriarchial and the messages they give out.

Which is fine-it is your opinion and we are all free to agree or disagree. What you can't do is expect everyone to see your view as the accepted feminist view. I am a feminist-I don't agree with everything that I read on MN feminist threads.
