To think parents should not be posting NekNomination videos?

I am shocked that people in their 30s are involving themselves in this ridiculous Neknomination craze. Posting their videos on Facebook. How unresponsible these parents are especially when young people have lost their lives by joining in this craze.
Have people lost the plot?

They frighten me, I'm all for having a good time but I genuinely don't see the appeal of them at all and some of the challenges seem scary as well as stupid. Did anyone see the one where the guy had to drink various horrible things mixed with 2 live fish? Poor things Sad Angry I was disgusted reading about it.

No idea why people think it's fun to be honest.

Someone I knew died at the weekend. Anyone posting one of these videos or sharing them is irresponsible.

I have had friends do it and also like other peoples posts. If I see any more they will be deleted.

In the queue at supermarket last week, three people;checkout lady, in her 40s, woman, 50s and man,60s, were all discussing the ones they had done on weekend. Has the world gone to hell in a handcart?

I just can't believe mothers in their 30s are going along with this and posting their videos on fb. They look pathetic, one drank a large glass of red wine, a pint of cider and a glass of rum, downed in one. She looked like she was about to vomit.

I've not heard about the live fish how disgusting.

It is grim, but at the same time I think we should r wary of blaming this all on a 'craze'. I mean, calling it neknomination is new, but downing drinks, dirty pints and the like certainly are not new.

I only graduated a couple of years ago, downing mixed drinks with a side order of peer pressure was a regular part of nights out for a lot of my friends. It's all tied in with the whole idea of 'lad' culture that seems to be taking over at the moment.

Dh is 1 month off 40 and was nominated at the weekend but he point blank refused to do so and was called many names by the guys he used to work with. Our eldest ds is 12 and he also has quite a few younger family members as friends on facebook so he was not willing to show drinking in that kind of light, we found a funny non drinking video and posted instead.

I've got 2 teenaged boys (19&17) and both think this 'craze' is pathetic. DS1 thinks it is for bellends!

My niece (33) has videos of her and her friends doing theirs at the weekend on her Fb. All of theirs involved sex toys. Her DC and my sister's youngest are all her Fb friends (they are too young for Fb which is another argument entirely). I find it really shocking.

DS was Neknominated, and filmed himself donating the price of his pint to charity - he showed the donation made through just giving on his phone. It's a good 'out' for people who don't want to do anything stupid but feel on the spot when nominated.

The RAKnominate idea is so much better. I can't believe how many grown ups have been involved.
There's a horrid amount of peer pressure involved with the younger people though. My form laughed at the suggestion that they could just not do it. It's such a different world since I was their age. I keep forgetting it was almost twenty years ago now!

Interestingly, the two people I am fb "friends" with (who have to keep polite with for work reasons) who posted their Neknominations are the two families I know who have social service interest in them.

And they think posting this stuff on fb will help their cases? Seriously?

BTW - I am NOT saying social services should be interested in people because of this craze, just pointing out a correlation in the people I personally know!

RAKNominations are better, but I just feel like... meh. If they want to do it, they can. They're nominating, not forcing people to do it.

If I get nominated (likely because I'm a uni student, but less likely because all my friends are very protective of me and 'their little mascot' as they call this baby), I'll either do it with squash/Ovaltine/Horlicks for a giggle, or I'll do a RAKNomination instead.

Those people are attention seekers, they want their 5 minutes of fame and to preen it. Then the 'fame' ends, they're desperate to get back the 'buzz' and end up doing more and more stupid things.

Years back, necking a bottle was just necking a bottle of cider/beer, usually when a cab had just arrived or you were off out- not piss, spit and whatever.

No matter how stupid a things is, someone will do it if they think it will make them unforgettable. I remember DP gagging when someone sent him a youtube link to some young guy drinking piss from a urinal at a festival as a dare.

A guy at my work posted a video with his 3yr old daughter 'helping'. I didnt watch the whole thing but he had the kettle boiling and her sat inches from it. He was swearing to the camera and chuckling away! Knob head!
The whole craze is a bit sad and pathetic and needs to stop.

People are such sheep and it makes me sad to see people/friends my age (late thirties) still bowing to peer pressure. And a lot I have seen are by parents. Definitely not a good example to their children. The only reason I can think of for my generation doing it is trying to recapture their youth. I enjoy a glass of wine as much as the next person but, seriously, what idiots.

Someone on my Facebook had liked one of these videos from a friend. In the comments was one from telling the person they were stupid to do it and being a sheep. He replied that he 'had no choice, he had to do it because he was nominated '. Really? No choice? What rubbish! Have to say, it has been a variety of ages I have seen doing it!.
