I've lived in this house ten years and have fixed one fence many times because neighbour said it was mine. Fence just blew down and n

Fence entitlement eh? Who'd have thought such a thing existed.
?

God, I've just realised what this thread reminds me of.

Remember Mitmoo and the neighbour's garden light? The sense of entitlement, the (entirely misplaced) certainty that she was right. Those were the days. Grin

There is no legal responsibility on either of you to replace the fence (unless you need it to restrain an animal in which case the animal owner needs to) so basically which ever of you wants the fence doing needs to pay for it themselves if however you both want it doing then halving costs is fair. In other words you can't tell her to do it nor can she tell you.

sandybobble · 10/02/2014 12:13

She was very rude that's why I was in a huff after finding out it isn't my fence. I it's only JUST on my land. I should build bridges with her though you're right. I'll apologise and ask if they still want to go halves. Maybe my son can visit and help put it up to keep costs down

Hmm
HauntedNoddyCar · 10/02/2014 12:16

Oh yes. You do need to build bridges...

sandybobble · 10/02/2014 12:33

Oh good grief I just realised what you mean by bridges. I'm not a troll. I have changed my name in case neighbor sees this and links it to other posts I've written about her in past. You never know. Sorry if that makes me seem untrustworthy.

my neighbour built a fence on my land so I should hold him responsible for all ongoing maintenance and repairs (or whoever comes to live in the house if the current gent moves out). the fact he is a fence fitter by trade and I paid him several hundred pounds for the job is irrelevant; he built the fence.
any clearer yet?
