Did anyone else watch the show on ITV last night about sweatshops? Can't believe that kind of abuse is behind most high street fashion!! Can't believe my kids could be wearing stuff made by other kids in sweatshops... It's on iPlayer now if anyone wants to watch it... really makes you think!

Wasn't sneering at all. Was simply surprised.

I think it's fair,y common knowledge. I'm sure all the clothes I own were made via sweatshops, but that's because we can't afford more, end of. All food is value (we avoid meat as much as possible as a result, tbh) and so on.

What do you imagine the people working in the sweatshop (or the previous generation of people in that country) did before the sweatshop opened? What do you imagine they'd be doing if it shut down?

Op, why do you think "posher" brands at 70% off are ethically superior to primark? Previous poster has a good point about foxconn et al. Had a coffee today OP.? Eaten asparagus lately? Being veggie you must have quite a varied palate, are your veggies ethical?

In this modern workd you need to grow your own, eschew technology (chromium mining) and your safest ethical bet for clothing is to skin uk wildlife.
