AIBU?

to think that Always infinity is the worst pad I've tried in my life?

And I'm the perfect person to test it out. I've suffered from heavy periods for about four years. Had all sorts of tests done. Tried the Mirena IUD and didn't get on with it as exogenous hormones don't seem to suit me. I'm now on the copper coil for contraception due to my reaction to hormones and am fully aware that this comes with the side effect of even heavier periods. I take tranexamic acid and 800mg ibuprofen three times a day just to have periods most women would think were normal/kind of heavy.

I saw the advert for Always infinity and even though I did a double-take at the price, I bought the night time pads at a ridiculous price for 8 pads to use during the day. I thought if it did what it promised, I don't mind paying the price.

Oh my goodness, these are even worse than the budget pads you can buy for a pound! I had the worst night's sleep last night where I was so tired I didn't want to get out of bed, but I had flooded and needed to get up and put a decent pad on. And I had done my usual trick of stuffing toilet tissue in my knickers as extra protection.

Am I alone in thinking this product is shite and a complete con?

I tried the always Infinity, had thrush within 15 minutes.

I bought some own brand ones from Superdrug and developed cystitis within a day of using them. Do you think that was connected?

Sorry for the hijack, I'm curious after reading Petitgrain's post Blush

Wierd you should say that Lady, I've had cystitis really badly for over two months now, and thinking about it, it did start around the same time as I tried the Infinity! Bloody hell, MN is right as usual. Never Always.

Hijack away, this started as a rant against Always Infinity and I've had some brilliant advice. Really pleased, thanks everybody. Smile

I hope you find something to help, it's no fun waking at 3am with blood all over the bed.

Cerazette made me bleed constantly, the mirena coil made me bleed constantly too. In fact everything I've tried makes me bleed all the time apart from the pill I'm on now which is called Micronor.

I get really heavy periods with lots of clots, I use Asda protect incontinence pads during the day and one of my dd's nappies for night time. I'm not even ashamed to tell anyone. Asda own brand size 6 last all night without leaking and I've woken myself up in the night before because I can feel it coming out of me :(
I use tampax super plus too but they only seem to last an hour and then fall out when I go to the toilet!

I thought they were quite good, myself. My periods aren't that heavy though so I don't know if that's a factor.

They aren't as itchy as normal pads, I find, it almost feels like I'm not wearing one at all which is nice.
Bloody expensive for what they are though.

it REALLY annoys me that we have to put up with this shit actually. I have had a pretty much permanent period since July, and all the GP said was 'it's normal, try this minipill' and of course I've bled constantly on that too. It is making me weak and tired, and has ruined any semblance of a sex life DH and I had, and leaves me constantly uncertain and worried as never sure how heavy the bleeding will be that day/night.

I finally found a GP who is investigating further, but it has taken me months to convince someone to try and find out what's wrong with me.

And it sounds like I'm not alone, and there are more of us who have to put up with either constant or heavy or both bleeding, and instead of finding out WHY we just sort out which sodding sanitary protection is best for us and trade tips on that! It's outrageous!

I'm really anemic and on iron tablets because of my heavy periods :(

You're right Kveta it is bad we have to put up with this. I literally can't leave the house on the first couple of days of my period. Just as well I don't work or I would be off sick every month!

Hi Kveta I've just been silently accepting this as my fate, but this thread has made me realise just how shit it is and makes me sad that I might have to put up with this for another fifteen years or whatever.

To be fair to my GPs I've had blood tests and scans to find out why my bleeding is so heavy, and also been referred to a specialist but everything comes back blank. It's outrageous you've had to wait so long.

I have fibroids and a few cysts on my ovaries but my doctor wasn't that bothered about it.
Funnily enough I don't get very painful periods, although I'm on a lot of painkillers for something else so I assumed they helped for that too.

I think they're very good. I get horribly heavy, keep me in the house periods, and the Infinity pads really do manage to quickly absorb the floods and hold onto them until I can change. They're my monthly treat to myself now Hmm

These are fantastic as are the HYF and angelpadz ones available from the same site.

I have a selection of most of the brands and all deat well with 'cant stand up without passing out level blood loss'

But no your not ur always pads are all IMO nasty itch inducing objects that should be banished from my world.

OMG, iwillonlyeatbeans, I've just realised that maybe this has happened to me too. I don't want sex, don't miss having sex, don't even think about sex, but I thought it was my age.

But no way am I going back to the horror that was my pre-Cerazette life!

Sad

Have you all been to see your GP and asked for a gynae referral for your periods? There's numerous things that can cause this, fibroids is just one. You have to be pro-active about this, you shouldn't have to live this way!

I suspect that it's hormonal, an excess in oestrogen, maybe.

toolittletoolate.

You MUST go back to your GP and get a gynae referral for your fibroids. They leave them, but they know that they will continue to grow. They will grow and bleed, causing you anaemia. The treatment of choice for large fibroids is a hysterectomy. There's new medication (Esmya) that can help to slow the bleeding and stops the bastards from growing but you can only get this from a referral. There's also a procedure where they can cut off the blood supply to the fibroids, so they 'die' and shrink. Like the medication, you have to get a referral for this, so badger your GP.

DON'T LET YOUR GP FOB YOU OFF AND DO NOTHING! Before you know it they will be huge. It's OK if you want a hysterectomy, this is the first thing they will suggest, and it's vital that you know what the other options are. This isn't something that you should leave.

thank you, I will go back to the doctor and say I need it sorted out. She obviously knows I'm anaemic because of it so why not get to the route of the problem!
Actually I wouldn't mind a hysterectomy I'm 43 and certainly don't want any more children.
