I would have loved to have an Army step in and help. Were you flooded too then OP? Or do you just mean sleep deprivation wise? Confused.

MorningTimes · 06/02/2014 20:08

I get your point OP! I don't think AIBU does 'lighthearted' anymore unless it is spelled out in the thread title Grin

BrownSauceSandwich · 06/02/2014 20:12

Errr, so you're in the middle making the tea and expect to choke on it in response to something you've seen already... That's a very delayed reaction. YABU.

justshabby · 06/02/2014 20:13

I also got the light-heartedness of the thread and I live close and know all firsthand what is happening here.

It doesn't all have to be doom and gloom and the community spirit has been amazing.

needthemoney · 06/02/2014 20:16

I think some people need to wind their necks in! I don't think the OP was dismissing the dreadful situation down south at all - just making a jokey remark about sleep deprivation. MorningTimes you've got it spot on re AIBU!

Evening all,
just a wee reminder of the talk guidelines. Hoping that this weekend turns out quieter than expected, weather-wise. It's been grim.

Misspixietrix · 06/02/2014 21:07

What about Forum wise too YetanotherHelen? . .

Misspixietrix · 06/02/2014 21:08

I'm in the East Midlands and the weather had been pretty bad to consider we are 'In land'. I can't for one minute begin to imagine what down south must be going through.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 06/02/2014 21:22

Oh, we are ALWAYS sandbagged. It goes with the territory. Grin

Misspixietrix · 06/02/2014 21:36

I always think of them as a 'Blue Moon' phase. You run along smoothly for ages and then you get a load of bizarre threads at once. I'm sure you all sit behind the screen and do a few FFS ings yourself. Grin.

Crinkle77 · 07/02/2014 15:39

What if the workers make a serious error which could endanger peoples lives as a result of them only having 3 hours sleep.

bigbarns · 07/02/2014 15:58

I'd let this one drop OP if I were you, it isn't funny, never was and never will be.

Chivetalking · 07/02/2014 16:07

I would imagine the man has had a run of pretty much sleepless nights, not just the one probably in company with many people in the area but anyway he has a pretty thankless not to mention monumental task.

Odd post, OP. Might be best to stop digging.

MollyHooper · 07/02/2014 16:17

I think people are taking things a wee big too seriously.

The OP isn't mocking the floods or the railway workers or even the situation, I think she just found the way the newsreader put it funny.

I just about got 3 hours last night and wouldn't mind a little army assistance with my 6 year old DS1 and 6 month old DS2.
