...to Mummy, Daddy, daughter/son/grandchildren, etc, are just a bit weird?

I don't get it. Confused

YANBU. Valentine's day is about lovers after all.

ViviPru · 02/02/2014 22:41

Urgh, these exist? It's amazing what passes one by when one purchases everything online with targeted searching. YANBU.

Annunziata · 02/02/2014 22:41

YABU! My DC send me cards and I send them cards too.

It's just about love, and it's harmless fun.

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2014 22:41

Yes I agree. BUT I am sending one to the tabby male cat over the road from Sparkling Cat as they adore each other. Blush

BlackDaisies · 02/02/2014 22:43

No, not weird. But definitely a rip off!

ImMarmite · 02/02/2014 22:44

My mum sends my children them... God only knows why!! I don't even send my DH one...

manicinsomniac · 02/02/2014 22:45

YANBU, it's nauseating

But then the only valentines cards I've ever had have been from my Mum!!

I'm not sure which is worse - that or never having had one!

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 02/02/2014 22:50

just because something isn't to your taste, doesn't mean it's 'weird'. valentine's cards are a rip-off anyway but god only knows what you're insinuating with the 'weird' comment.

VelvetSpoon · 02/02/2014 22:51

I've never had a valentines card (nor any sort of gift)

Hence I tell myself the day is a load of bollocks.

ChrisMooseMickey · 02/02/2014 22:51

Sparkling they actually do cars to and from the cat/dog.

I appreciate that yes it is harmless (I suppose), but it is about courtly love, not love in general geek

I used to send them to my Granddad.

Obviously not the ones covered in pictures of pants and jokes about willies.

But I started sending him one after my Grandma died and it was just a nice way to remind him that I was thinking of him.

ChrisMooseMickey · 02/02/2014 22:53

Ok, sorry, it's not to my taste. Although I prefer the word nauseating Grin

I started a thread on this last year after MIL bought cards for DH to give to his DD's. He said he didn't want to give them the cards as valentines day is for couples in his eyes. MIL kicked off and told him he's a terrible father etc etc and all of DH's family give each other cards and buy presents. When I asked on here if anyone else thought it was odd giving Valentines cards to your kids a few people said I was suggesting there was something sick/sexual about it! which I wasn't, it's just not to my taste ...

Megrim · 02/02/2014 23:01

I always send DH a Valentines card that says "from the dog".

We don't have a dog.

Mwah hah hah hah.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 02/02/2014 23:02

nauseating is fine, it's the finding it 'inappropriate' that's i think is an odd way to feel.

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/02/2014 23:05

Yanbu

falulahthecat · 02/02/2014 23:56

My Mum used to get me a present/card when I was little. It would freak me out now, though, especially now I know V-day is based on a roman fertility orgy festival (which sounds much more fun)

ChrisMooseMickey · 03/02/2014 22:20
