WIBU to leave neutral feedback on eBay?

Bought an item for 99p, paid immediately when auction ended on the 21st. Postage charged was £3 for 2nd class, although this is actually the cost of 1st class. Hadn't received it by the 27th so messaged seller. She apologised and said she only posts from work and hadn't been in but would post today. I asked her to send it 1st class which she did, and it arrived yesterday (28th).

I'm annoyed that it took a week from payment to receiving my item and that I had to chase it up. I sell on eBay myself and always make sure I'll be able to post within a day of the auction ending.

She also hasn't left me buyer feedback yet.

Would I be unreasonable to leave neutral feedback?

If she promised second class delivery then a week is reasonable I would have thought. And she apologised and sent it first class anyway.

You knew the postage cost before you bid, if it was that bad you didn't have to bid.

I don't see why she deserves neutral feedback tbh.

PleaseJustLeaveYourBrotherAlon · 29/01/2014 08:35

Not unreasonable no.

TobyLerone · 29/01/2014 08:39

Just don't leave feedback if you're that cross about it. It's not worthy of neutral feedback, IMO. A week seems reasonable.

MrsDeanAmbrose · 29/01/2014 08:39

I'd leave a positive but reflect the slow dispatch in her star ratings.

flowery · 29/01/2014 08:39

When were you expecting it to arrive bearing in mind you were expecting second class? Not sure how long second class usually takes but assuming something is posted say two days after auction finishing I'm not sure a week is hugely unreasonable actually.

Smoorikins · 29/01/2014 08:49

Iirc from my ebaying days, guidelines are payment within three days, delivery within two weeks.

If that is still the case yabu.

stinkingbishop · 29/01/2014 08:50

I think YABU, sorry. It really p*sses me off when people come back and moan about postage after winning an item. It's not as if the costs are hidden. Second class isn't that much less nowadays, and when you factor in the jiffy bag etc.

So with second class, a week would have been reasonable. Plus presumably it also said on the listing despatch time (eg because I'm busy I say I'll send within 3 days, though usually am much quicker).

Plus she's now had to send it First, so hasn't had any money for packaging.

And at the end of the day, you got it for 99p! She's probably made about 50p out of the whole transaction and had you hassling her for her pains!

Sorry, am in eBay misery at the moment myself so you're getting the brunt of it Wink.

Catsize · 29/01/2014 08:54

YABU. Agree with stinking.

Joysmum · 29/01/2014 08:58

Postage should reflect the costs of postage and packaging, not just the stamp price.

The item arrived within the week, what timeframe for postage was specified within the listing?

Only1scoop · 29/01/2014 09:05

Did parcel arrive within the date frame on listing?

Only1scoop · 29/01/2014 09:06

If so I'd leave positive but just write 'delivery slightly slow'

Chopstheduck · 29/01/2014 09:10

yabu

Just leave a lower star rating for the delivery option.

Panzee · 29/01/2014 09:10

Or even "despatch was delayed but she sent it first class so it all evened out in the end?" :o

MissMilbanke · 29/01/2014 09:14

Think about it.

You have paid the princely sum of £4 for something you specifically wanted. This was delivered to your door in a week. You haven't really had to do anything apart from send a few emails, no getting into town, paying for parking, bus fares, no hassle.

I think you need a bit of perspective really...

ENormaSnob · 29/01/2014 09:19

Totally unreasonable.

You got it in a week fgs. I just cant see the issue.

KellyElly · 29/01/2014 09:23

Second class you would expect 3-5 days so you would be being a bit of an arse leaving neutral feedback yes. To be honest I can't stand buyers like yourself who get items cheap as chips and then moan. You paid 99p ffs.

TeacupDrama · 29/01/2014 09:28

what was her dispatch time on the listing it can be upto 3 days more i exceptional circumstances 2nd class takes roughly 3 working days on average so 6 working days is a week plus a day so if paid on 21st would expect it to arrive on 28th-29th January, it arrived within 5 working days of sale

charging £3 postage when it cost £2.60 second class is a reasonable amount for postage and packing if it cost £1.10 as a large letter it was not reasonable I reckon 20-50p extra for packing etc is reasonable more than that is taking the mikey unless item very large and breakable and requires loads of bubblewrap and packing peanuts

she sent it 1st class to compensate for late postage altogether probably arrived at same time as if posted earlier but 2nd, she was polite and apologetic and solved problem by using 1st class so i think it should be positive with maybe 4 stars instead of 5 for speed of delivery

Wuxiapian · 29/01/2014 09:28

YABU.

A week from payment to receiving is good-going.

I would leave her a positive.

Topaz25 · 29/01/2014 11:53

Have you checked her dispatch times? She should say when she sends items.

As for the cost of postage, you knew that before you bid and shouldn't have bid if you were unhappy with it. Are you factoring in the cost of packaging?

I would not leave neutral feedback in this case, she attempted to resolve the issue by sending it first class. She will probably not have made any profit on this transaction, it seems unfair to hit her feedback too. Just don't leave feedback.

Fleta · 29/01/2014 12:31

YABU.

Postage was £3.00 for second class which surely would include the packaging.

I don't think a week is unreasonable for second class.

Balaboosta · 29/01/2014 12:35

YABU - a week is fine

FannyFifer · 29/01/2014 14:42

You are being totally unreasonable.

WhereIsMyHat · 29/01/2014 14:44

You are being very unreasonable. A week!?!?

mindthegap01 · 29/01/2014 18:39

Thanks for all the comments-will leave positive but with less stars for delivery. For the record the listing said postage in 1-2 days and packaging was a preused envelope so no packaging costs.
