.. to want to pay somebody to come do my ironing?

I work full time, commute 2 hours each way a day and spend about 25 minutes with my son a day. I'm happy enough to do housework over the weekend, but I absolutely loathe and detest ironing.. AIBU to hire somebody to do it for me once a week? Can't decide if I'm being lazy or justified.

If you're both working FT with DC & can afford it, I'm amazed you haven't got a cleaner let alone someone to do your ironing (or better still a cleaner who does your ironing Grin).

Get them to do the cleaning and clothes laundry whilst you're at it if funds allow. It's what I do.

Nothing wrong with paying someone but why do you iron at all ? Don't you have a dryer?

Scholes34 · 28/01/2014 21:36

I think I'll set up an ironing club with lonelynessie. I find ironing quite therapeutic, a bit like lane swimming. I think it's relaxing and a time to get lost in your thoughts, or watch something on TV.

As for the suggestions of not ironing, you can't beat getting into a bed with freshly laundered and ironed sheets in a freshly ironed night dress, regardless of who's done the ironing.

stop ironing.

buy clothes that do not need ironing, wash dry and hang

anything that looks like it needs ironing after that you can either throw away on the basis that it does not belong in your home or iron on an as needed basis

dh irons his 5 workshirts. that is it.

I'm with greenfolder only work shirts get ironed by my husband in our house, the odd summer dress, that's about it. I seem to manage weeks without ironing, but I do use the tumble-drier. Everything else just seems to fall out and look fine except for shirt cotton.

I'd love to not iron but am yet to find clothes that don't need ironing. I wonder where you are all buying them??

OP not one bit BU. Do it!
