Car second hand from dealership. They have offered me really good part ex on my banger and 6 months tax. Dh gets really annoyed/embarrassed when I haggle. Should I ignore him and see if I can get a better deal?

Thanks all. Went back to garage and found out it was already "reduced by 2k" but managed to get two hundred off and tank of fuel. After asking for my deposit back. Fairly pleased.

I did a lot of research on internet. Found a garage about 50 miles away selling the car I wanted at a VERY good price. Went to my local garage and they matched the price.

Also have a close look at preregistered cars - brand new but taxed. The garage usually has to buy say 20, register them and pay for them a short time later; as it gets closer to the day that they have to pay they get more anxious to sell and will accept any deal that doesn't cost them money. You will have less choice but the price is better.

This seems to happen most often in March & September - when the registration number changes.
